chimei
hi... well, i've done it. i think i've finished. so here are the pics. i'd love to get some feedback before i send final pics to get approved. this is a racing suit, KS bucket, SC seconds (so i've lightly weathered the whole thing to hide small differences in color, scratches, etc.), homemade bund, pouches, and boots. 1) i used the measurements for the pouches, but still think they're a little big, so even though they are accurate, i'll be shrinking them about 1". 2) i'll also be adding the mudflap and riding patches to the thighs, as well as making a flak vest so i can go for lancer. 3) pistol is still drying...hard to do with the moisture in the air after the snow storm. 4) have to paint the red stripe on the tank topper and the little white spot as well...left the paint markers at work 5) haven't added greeblies to back (going to use MOM version until the new greeblies are in production) other thoughts or suggestions??? loosetoon
Looks real good. Good to go in my humble opinion. But yeah, the pouches look correct, and also big at the same time. You might just need to make them smaller to be proportionate. One other thing I see is your rank stripes look real thick. I made mine the same thickness as the other big stripe on the tank. This is probably something you do not need to change, but it just stood out to me so I thought I'd mention it. Congrats on a great build! Chex
Looking real good brother. Here are some things I would do to get you on your way to Lancer. 1. Lower your thigh boxes a little. 2. You already touched on your pouches, but I would also make sure to move them out a tad, at least to the edge of the ribs on the bund. 3. Rank stripes are a little too thick. I used the same thickness as the tank detailing. 4: Don't forget you'll need to add the thin strap with the rivet on your upper knee armor. As far as approval goes, just lower your boxes, change out your stripes for thinner ones, and submit. You can be approved without a blaster, or greeblies on your TD. It's all up to you though bro. Nice job so far.
chimei
Can't tell if the knee rivets are white and dirty or if they silver.
Chex
I'd say go with white.
lonewolf
Looks good, there is a guy in the movie with four big stripes, we never see this version, nice. The rivet on the knees may have to wait on a decent armour maker to make a kneeplate with enough return edge to put a rivet into. We have another Pathfinder I believe. Cyber Scout
Yes bud be happy with this! i'd say the boxes are high on big prob and the "butt flap" is a bit thin but ok for standard clearance though, it might be an idea to tighten up your belt a tad as it looks a bit lose, But on a good note well done on shaping your shoulder bells to the movie, not many bother to do this with this armour set even on Lancer level and it adds so much and looks miles better than the ones provided. Well done bud
chimei
thanks andy - actually, there is no mudflap - just a fold that makes it look like a mudflap...still have to make that. i may put a "backing" on it since feaux suede is thinner than real suede. when i where the belt down, it actually fits well...but i will be dropping the boxes a bit. i made them easily adjustable with velcro on the inside...so no prob with that. "shrank" the pouches this morning by about 1/2" and they sit much better...but it was a quick fix for halloween. i'll sit down and actually do proper sewing this weekend...then take new pics. also painted the white dot on the tank topper and added red to the "dial". so the question is, do i keep the "guy in the movie with four big stripes, we never see this version" thicker four stripes or swap them out for thinner ones? i remember reading somewhere on the boards that the trim is 1/8" and the rank are 1/4"...did i misread? lonewolf
Mr four stripes is the guy who trys to arrest Leia only to be battered first by Wicket then gets a nice whack from a big stick from Leia. A valid version, the existing stripe measurements are for general sizing, you don't have to change the size you have. He also has a slightly different horizontal line on the back hump, thcker in the middle. So he is a "Hero" style Biker Scout, for close up filming. Your choice. chimei
well, shrank the puches, lowered the thigh boxes, painted the white spot on the tank topper and kept the four thick stripes and submitted the new pics to the GML. he cleared me and sent it all on to 501st...so now the wait begins for the designation. hoping it's only a couple days. thanks for all the feedback...appreciate it
