MC's snout question

Recommended Posts

hey guys i'm about to purchase MC's snout, but I've no idea what's the difference between the old snout, the new snout, with or without the riser plate and solid or hollow... it's SUPER confusing and i don't want to end up something that will later need to be replaced for my lancer application...

P.S: I'm REALLY sorry if this question has been asked before, I tried using the search function but it seems that with the new skin it's disabled. it didn't find any results.

hi...

others may have additional advice or comments, but here's some info that may help.

old and new may refer to the styles. another way to think about it is "less accurate" and "more accurate".

the bucket kits come with stickers that "look like" the film snouts, but are not accurate at all. then the small snout needs to be glued to a sticker - not a great idead for longevity or wear and tear. you can see the pics of the KS snout and see the appearance of the sticker and snout. the pic here is of the KS snout that came with my kit.

the riser plate is screen accurate and should be added. the MC snout is great in that you can get it all as one piece (less gluing and less hassle).

the solid or hollow question relates to the "tube" portion of the snout. the first picture has a solid snout, one that has the mesh screen sculpted into the piece. the MC solid looks much better than the KS one. the second picture is the MC hollow. it has a mesh screen that needs to be added and painted. this is great for accuracy, but that small detail will "disappear" from a few feet away.

i hope that helps. others may have additional thoughts or opinions...

I think this is the post you were looking for:

(just scoll down a bit)

The "old" snout is the one WITHOUT the riser plate, while the "new" one is WITH the riser plate.

Both "old" and "new" come in solid and hollow variants.

Hope that helps, and they are all great! Just got one myself the other month! =)

thanks a lot! i'll probably go with the solid one, i'm not too confident about installing screen mesh on small places, i kind of screwed some mesh in my Tk's mic tips.. :P

one last question, solid or hollow, both are lancer approvable?

It depends on how screen accurate you want to make you helmet

The screen used snout detail was a one piece with no hollowed out snout

tip

below is a close up pic of a screen used helmet to give you a better idea

hope it helps

@BananoPower22- keep us updated on how you get :)

@griffin-x - thanks for the comment :)

if you guys want to see the rest of the pics check out my link below

remember - its about sharing information on these lids and not hoarding any photos or info on your computers HD

too many people on other forums stash info and pics away on screen used items and argue over the screen

used details on countless threads i've seen over the years - but I'm glad this forum is not like others :D

save these to your HD's and share with other new scout fans :P enjoy
