Skinner3D Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I have a pair of black combat boots that I would like to use as the basis for my scout boots, but the obvious problem is that they are black. Would it be okay if I got some heavy duty spray paint and painted the soles tan? I will get tan soled boots if I need to, but I would prefer not seeing as I already have good ones (and comfortable ones at that)
chimei Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 i'm not sure that the paint will hold up more than a troop or two...
lonewolf Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I had this same problem with the Kashhyyk trooper boots I was doing. The paint has worked quite well, but if I were you I would buy a different pair of boots for the Biker Scout with a decent brown sole. The difficulty with the Clonetrooper was we had the correct rare boot but it was in black. You could pick up a cheap pair of desert boots for little more than the price of the paint you would use.
Skinner3D Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 What sort of paint did you end up using for the boots? If it ends up being the cheapest option then I am definitely up for trying it. So far I haven't been able to find cheap desert boots in my size. I have found them in my size starting at $60 or not in my size for like $20. Grrrr. What color sole am I looking for? We found some spray paint that works on vinyl, but it was more of a light brown. I also found some desert boots in my size, but they were pushing the olive green end of tan.
4505Marcel Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Agreed I would defo buy a tan coloured sole set of boots bro, the paint will be a constant touch up thing me thinks, just make sure you buy singke colour soles and have no visable stitching once done to replicate the screen used boots
Skinner3D Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 I feel dumb What shape is the toe piece supposed to be if you are following the tutorial?
