TD hose color

i've seen both grey and black TD hoses on the various costumes. the screen shops appear grey to me.

 

however, my SC kit arrived and the hose is black, but the "raised" bits are white, giving a greyish appearance. should i be painting this a solid grey color? if so, suggestions for the color?

The screen used one appears to be a light gray rib on a darker gray material. However, in a compressed state as it is normally seen on the costume, it appears gray. It is definitely not white and black or white or black. I suggest plain gray.

I don't know why or how the original looks black on the inner parts, maybe light and shadow.

A very cheap way to acquire grey tubing is to have a wee look at your local dump where the old vacuum cleaners are stored, at least I found a perfect size and shade there.

You could spray the tube you have. Even try to copy the original one.
