I am trying to make a mold for an accurate boot sole, unfortunately I don't have an original pair of boot to cast from.

A good friend has cut out a first attempt of the sole details, a lot more work to do on this project , it may never work out but it is going to be fun trying.

At the minute I hope to do a size 9UK/10 US for myself. The above version is about 18" long!

10 US you say? That just happens to be my size ;)

Latest test cut, this is an actual sized sole, some tweaks to do but I think it will be superb when it is finished.

Yes it would have been easier if I had an original boot to cast.

I have scaled the boot sole to a size 9 UK , size 10 US, if it works as well as I hope it does this sole could possibly work with sizes 8 to 11 donor boots. Getting the size cut onto the boot was quite a challenge for my friend, and was really only because I am a git to please!

How will you go about seperating a sole off a donor boot and attaching this one, or will it go to a boot maker to have the boots made bespoke to suit the sole?

Good question Marcel

I am thinking about even a cheap pair of slip on gutties, the existing sole can stay on and the new rubber accurate sole can be glued onto it. It won't need to be a pair of Timberland style boots at all.

I will figure something out

that's interesting. i assume most shoe repair places could easily replace rubber soles as they often do this. looking forward to a 10.5 US pair...hint, hint!

First let me say that I'm so interested in how this develops though I may not be part of it as I have 8.5 - 9 boot size :/.

It may be too late for this critique but instead of taking a workers boot proportion you should have used an israeli desert boot as a reference as it has the same slim sole appearance. This one looks a bit too chunky.

Apart from a slightly different thread the only drawback the pladium boots have are color and heel height but it has the same proportions!

Those are some serious treads.

Just do not step in any dog-poop or you'll be using a stick to pick it out of the sole for some time. :D

Nice work though LW!!!
