My TB Build...so far.

Hey everyone! I've been working on my build and wanted to post come pics. My goal is to end up with a 501st approved costume I can wear - and a life size figure. I have most of my soft parts and I am working on the getting the suit up to speed (thigh patch, butt flap, etc). My armor kit is coming from KS...should be anytime now!

Feedback welcome - so here it goes:

You'll need to fill your pouches with something, full, but not bursting. A lot of people use foam inserts cut to size. I use foam with hollow centers to put my collector cards and my cell phone in them. Also, the stitching line at the top of the cummerbund crotch flap should be straight across the bottom of the cummerbund and ride just under the belt. There is no curved line.

Thanks Dave. I appreciate the feedback. I'm getting some more alterations to make it fit better too. The back side is ugly with safety pins for now. I'm getting there though!

Looking good! Where did you pick up the mannequin? I want a life size figure :)

I looked online and found lots of options. IN the end, I got this one on ebay for $99. I did not want a face on it...too weird for me and the wife!

UPDATE:

I have been working on making a flak vest while waiting for my armor and helmet kit. Don't we all just love waiting?!?!?

I've also been in touch with my local Star Garrison and CTX squadron. I am going to help out as a handler for an event for the Blu-Ray release next week. Very excited to meet some local troops and help out. The whole experience and all of the help of BSN Witness, Army Scout, Lonewolf, Hollywood Chex, CCBacara, Atomaton and others is really appreciated. :D

I hope to have the armor kit and helmet in about a week. Pics coming soon.

Well, I heard from Scott @ KS last night and my armor kit and helmet has been delayed. Apparently, one of their master armor molds suffered damage on one of the last few runs. When replaced, the parts done before did not match the parts after so...a completely new run is taking place now.

In other news...I have a new MG34 coming for a new DLT-19, a Star Wars Event at a Best Buy for the Blu-Ray release, and Realm Con coming in October!

I guess the name of the game is patience. I'm still waiting for the word of my armor shipping. As of this date, still nothing. I'm hoping to get a message this week stating that it's on the way. Everything else is ready to rock...stand by!

In other news, my flak vest is almost complete. Just making a few tweaks to the sleeves before posting pics. Also, I've almost finished with a new Cushman DLT19. I added the primer this weekend and she will be curing for the next few days. I hope to get the flat black on it this weekend.

I'll update once I know more from KS...

Okay. I received my brown box from KS yesterday and everything was intact. The helmet was the best part, while the armor has some issues. Mostly, I do not like the way the armor chest and back are molded (i know, i know...i was warned). The other parts (knees, shoulders, biceps, and elbow) are great.

I worked through lunch and got the elbows, biceps, and knees completed and setup w/Velcro. I am still working on the chest and back. The belt is coming next and will be good with a few mods.

Yeah...I'm on the fence for the TD bits. I have a nice set of greeblies from a BSN member and they look great. I may attach them w/double-sided tape for now. Also, since there were on-screen scouts w/out greeblies I may go bare too...

I've been working on the set a little this week. I plan to do more this weekend. So far I have modified all the arm/leg parts and have them ready to go. The shoulders are nice and look great. I'm working on the belt today along with the tank mounting and stripes.

Here's the progress for this past weekend.

I finished up the chest/back parts, painted the tank parts, and added the pin-striping. I also added the greeblies to the TD, using double-sided tape. The greeblies can easily be removed and tweaked later on. :)

So...I'm ready to tackle the boot holster. The KS holster is rather large and really does not fit my boot at all. I have a heat gun and think the part should wrap more. Any ideas guys??!!
