niktom
Well, here we go. My first test fit. Still have some details to finish out and some Velcro work here and there. Seeking some professional input on how it looks and what needs to be worked on. Just looking to go 501 at the moment, may work on Lancer later on down the road. Thanks in advance for any input. Tried the "T-Strap" for the shoulder bells... total pain in the . Gonna just stitch the Velcro onto the jumpsuit. This is the "Trooper Takes A Pee Pee In The Woods" shot. Gotta get the legs shortened a bit... to quote a relatively famous Princess type person... "Aren't you a little short..." How does the rest of the jumpsuit fitting look? It's snug in some place while not so in others.
MURDOCK
I tried the velcro T strap and did not like it either so I used buttons instead. Two on the back and front and one for the shoulder bell. It worked a lot nicer and is a lot stronger and quieter. I attached the white cover strip with brads and then buttons again underneath. I can get some pics of what I mean if you would like. Its kind of hard to explain it decent.

MURDOCK
I have a heck of a time getting pics on these forums because of the size limitations so I have a photobucket link at the end so let me know if it works or not. OK, I used 8 female snaps and 2 male snaps on the T strap as well as 1 eyelet and one brad. For mine I used 1.5 in black elastic, 1 in black elastic, and cut a 2 in wide piece of duck cloth. Your sizes may vary in length but I will use mine as this is just an example. -First get the chest and back plate set where you need to. Measure your gap between the two and you will get how wide you need to cut your white cover. Mine is 2 in. -Next I figured out how much of the 2 in black elastic I needed to join the two. Mine was about 6 in long so I could set the snaps on the armor down a bit, you can go shorter or longer but this was a nice size for me and it allows some give if you move a lot or ever get snagged. -Then you need to figure out where your shoulder bells line up and measure the gap. I have about an inch gap in mine. -Once you have those 3 cut I layed the 1.5 in black elastic down, then the duckcloth on top, centered, and making a T. Then the 1 in piece on top of the duckcloth, see attached pics -I punched an eyelet through all three in the center where they all meet and put a brad through it to help keep it all together niceand neat. -For the 1.5 in elastic I outthe 4 female snaps facing down as well as on the 1 in piece of elastic, for the 1 in piece you will need to measure inside the shoulder bell where you want the snaps, I put one close to the top and in the middle. -On the duck cloth I put the top two female snaps facing up, then wrapped it aroundto see where to place the male snaps, marked it, unfolded it and put the two male snaps facing down, If your lost at this point use the pics as a reference. -for the snaps on the armor just put the other end of the button snaps through some plastic, I just used a for sale sign cause its thin and easy to push snaps through, set it where you need on the armr, use some E6000 or equivilant, and set them in place. -Repeat for the other side and You should have it with no sewing required. The steps eem pretty lengthy put once you do one it shouldnt take long to make the second. I made them with one hand cause I cut my tendon in my finger while working on my scout, Long story so dont ask, so having two hands should make it much easier. I hope this helps, if yo have questionsfeel free to ask. The tool you can get a almost any craft or fabric store for around 10-115 bucks plus it comes with some snaps, The eyelets I bought at the same store as well. I used a JOANN fabric store so if you have one nearby you can go there, they sell E6000 there as well as GOOP for the boots. http://s993.photobucket.com/albums/af57/murdock0423/
Dart
Looks pretty good so far. You might want to pull those belt boxes up a bit. Ideally, they should sit right at your hips and the bottoms of the boxes really shouldn't go lower than the bottom of the cod flap.
303trooper
Murdock.'I love your idea on the bridge coverings. I currently isethe t shape elStic with a band of White slStic going over it with a slit for the black elastic to stick through for the shoulder bell but I know that's now lanced status so I will be using that with your permission please. Just need a little bit more webbing now. Thanks for sharing though...
4505Marcel
The only problem with not hanging you bells on a strap is they tend to ballon alot, and you get the american footballer look. Ive made my fabric shoulder covers attached to the T straps, I sort of velcro the T strap between the back and chest armour and then wrap around the bridge gap which then poppers front and back leaving a 25mm black nylon webbing strap hanging to attach the bell, holds it all in nice and tight. MURDOCK
I used the same method as someone else, just dont remember where I found it, so its not really my idea but I dont have the means of sewing velcro so i converted it to snaps. I actually ended up hand sewing my whole cummerbund because the double layer duckcloth was too thick for my sewing machine . so I converted the T strap to snaps. That way you can get the nice strapping system even if you cant sew or just have a hard time with it. Like Marcel said, you almost have to have the bells connected to the T strap to get a good look to it, not saying you cant but im sure its a lot easier. The suit is looking good there niktom. Your boots will hide most of the legging slack so you might not have to mod it too much. Plus you dont want it too tight just a lttle loose fitting. You dont want to look like you have a TK undersuit on . I would see how it looks with the cummerbund and boots first though, I know my race suit looks a lot baggier when its on its own but comes together nice after its all together. niktom
So yea... I totally fell off the wagon for posting updates. Between life being busy and spending as much spare time as possible on this... I lost total track of the thread here. Since last posting I have: *completed the boots *greebled the TD *picked ups some gloves *got a KS bucket *completed the cumberbun (except pouches) *minor nips, tucks, and tweaks We had spirit week at school (I'm a teacher) so I got to participate in costume day. I've got some work under the bucket to fit it better, my cod piece doesn't want to stay attached (as can be seen above) and then of course the pouches. Other than that... I think I'm doing good. Anything you folks can see from this pic that I need to work on?
