Guest Mcspackle Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I have a couple of questions regarding my MLCv3 helmet. I decided to do the painting myself - so I can learn how to paint costumes, but I have been having problems making the helmet look glossy-white. Is there a transparent gloss coating that I apply after painting everything to make it look glossy? What is the best way to remove any after spray droplets? I have some below the visor and on the back. Thanks in advance! Mcspackle
lonewolf Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Use gloss paint, or if the gloss "bloomed" this can be further polished with cutting compound, then Tcut, then car polish. A coat or 6 of car lacquer will give a superb shine, make sure it is compatible with the previous paint. Any runs or flaws in the initial paint job, leave it to dry fully for at least a week then use wet and dry sandpaper to buff out the imperfections. A light coat of paint then a light rub down between coats will alway work best. I have used "two pack" paints, very hard wearing and very shiney, maybe this helps.

It has been longer than a week so I will start sanding. Thank you very much!! Mcspackle
