SaberGirl
Hi! I have both current MLC snout and the MC snout. The only difference I see is the size of the aerator. Which one should I use to be more S.A.? Also, is the aerator painted all black? Thanks Sabergirl
Witness
Unless a base plate is created for the left one, you would want the right one. Most people seem to be using the MonCal one. For colors, see the picture below of a screen used scout helmet in the image gallery here at BSN.
Wickedfluxx
I bought a MC snout (i.e. the right one as Witness points out) for my MLCv3 lid and it is flat out awesome. The one that comes with the MLC bucket is not going to be enough, you'll have to add a separate piece above it (as the picture that Witness provided shows). 303trooper
How do they fare against the DJ snout that is available over here in blighty? Is anyone aware of his work at all?

I wasn't aware Don Jarr was still making them. He hasn't had them on his eBay page in a while. BTW folks, you can say MonCal now, remember, I changed the rule. Check the announcement forum. I have a Don Jarr one from when I was modding my first choice of TB lid.. The good old Rubies. So I still have one.. Was just wondering if it was as good if not better than the others out there.... bdgr
MLC most have changed/upgraded his resin snout. The two snouts that I got from him when I purchsaed his MLC V3 Biker Helmets awhile back look nothing like the image. Back then, the only accurate Biker snout was MonCal and you had to create the back plate yourself Man, I feel old...

What it most likely looks like now? I have an MLC coming in a few weeks but if I need a new snout I need to try to order it now. Thanks in advance... lonewolf
The one on the right look exactly like a Don Jarr version. He is still selling this type and various other bits and pieces, actually a very reliable seller. The aerator is too big unfortunately, the Moncal is the most accurate of the two. Guess I'd better get one from moncal if the mlcv3 one isn't up to scratch. I'll wait and see and when they it gets here I'll put it up for y'all to compare.... Simples. ;o)
elwyn5150
In the snouts, there are two small circular holes above the aerator. Are they meant to aim straight upwards? The MLC one I have slants to the left. I've ordered the MC snout - does the MC slant too?
Chex
Yep, the slant is accurate.

Thanks in advance Didn't sabergirl post a recent image of her MLC and MC snout at the beginning of the thread? I tried to look for my old MLC snouts that originally came with my helmets, but I must have thrown them away. If I were you, I would just order a new MLC snout. We know they are accurate, the correct size, and have a back plate already part of it. It just might take some time before you actually get it
Wickedfluxx
Didn't sabergirl post a recent image of her MLC and MC snout at the beginning of the thread? Indeed. The grey one to the left is the same one that came with my MLCv3 and the white one to the right is the MonCal snout. I have no idea what snout currently comes with the MLCv3 bucket these days as I received mine in September 2010. I believe that the picture that Luis is looking for is of the snout that is shipped with the MLCv3 bucket today. That I have not seen myself. Hey guys- the one on the left I got with my MLCv3 helmet around April 2011 so this should be the current one that he is shipping out. I went ahead and used MC (Moncal's) since it has a back plate. Had a bit of trouble painting the black portion on the helmet (around the curve) - I should be able to touch that up this weekend.

I'm kind of terrified of doing that myself. I read some stuff about using pinstripe along the edges which I thought I might try but have just been putting it off completely. -a

I think I stood there a few moments before getting up enough courage to actually press down on the paint nozzle. I just used the pinstripe material as an outside guide on where to paint. It adheres better than painters tape. Used a plastic bag to cover up the rest of it and painters tape to hold everything in place. I've got OCD issues and the curve isn't completely round to me. I'm just getting a paint pen to touch that up this weekend.
Wickedfluxx
Had a bit of trouble painting the black portion on the helmet (around the curve) - I should be able to touch that up this weekend. I hand painted that area with a fine brush and some Frog Tape.
