BARC ? or Clone Scout

I was watching Ep3 today and it dawned on me, that its not BARC troops we are working to duplicate, but actually Clone Scout Troops.

Ok, so I decided to do some research to back up my claim. First Star Wars.com. As I suspected they showed what was in the movie, it wasnt the scout riding the BARC but I variant more closely related to the Clone.

Second, the Hasbro toys markets the BARC with the clone scout, calling it a BARC trooper. OK now what the hell, I'm getting more confused.

Next up was Star Wars Wookieepedia. As you can see on this sight much more in depth information. The Armor we are looking at is in fact Clone Scout, and NOT the BARC.

I hope this doesnt make anybody mad, BARC Trooper is a much cooler name, but we are Clone Scouts, not BARCs.

It's pretty simple: The Wookieepedia, like all Wikis, are not infallible sources of information. The very fact that anyone (by "anyone" I mean people who don't care a lick about confirming information before slapping it up there) can go and edit a Wiki entry with whatever they like makes Wikis something less than ideal as far as their being solid references is concerned.

Hasbro has to get approval from Lucasfilm Licensing before giving a title to a figure. So if I were to consider one "more official" than the other one, I'd go with Hasbro before a Wiki entry.

So, "TB-2872", huh? What garrison are you with?

Thats why I brought it up here. Its not that I want to start something here, but it just got my things going in my head. I mean the Clone Scouts werent shown at all on BARCs, and in two different scenes in the movies it shows the ARC variants riding patrol, and riding off into battle.

I was attached to the Midwest garrison along while ago, and havent been active for over a year. I have recently had more free time again, and jumping back into the swing of it..dusting off my armor box and resubmitted for the 501st.

ok here are some sources to consider.

Star Wars Insider #84 explains the clone variants. Which is affliated with LucasArts online.

Star wars.com--Lucas Online Database section under BARC's

Advanced Recon Commando--modified Clones

Biker Advanced Recon Commando--modified Clones assigned to a fast attack mode IE BARC speeders.

Clone Scout--soft armor we recognize.

Imperial Scout--Coined Biker Scout after they recieved 74-Z Speeder for Endor Duty..

You miss the fact that the troops on kashyyk never acted as scouts.

They were combat troops equipped with standard assault armament rather than light weapons. The concentration of troops of that unique type and their aggressive performance doesn't really correspond with the profile of reconaissance troops.

I agree that BARC is in the same way misleading as we don't see any of these troopers on "bike" like vehicles or other craft. We got the Neyo type troopers and AT-RT drivers piloting recon craft. So as Jay pointed out; Hasbro as the next best official or LFL affiliated source is responsible for this.

At the time of E3, weren't all the Republic soldiers of every degree, placement and designation "Clones" with the exception of their Jedi Generals? So clone would thus become a generic designation. Perhaps there were some non clone enlistees and even conscripts after the disolution of the Old Republic and the rise of the new Empire.

As to what different troopers are called, wouldn't that kinda depend on what licensed merchandising/marketing and Lucas Arts puts out?

Sorry Mad but I got on this one buddy, here's a picture of of what we call the BARC trooper riding in the swamp speeder 2 seater. This is taking from the movie right before the clones try to kill Yoda, its brief moment as we see what is going on down on the beech with a birds eye view of the battle. Then we're takin down to the beech and just as we see a clone tank come over the sand dune on the left side of the screen you'll see this swamp speeder come in firing.

Its all marketing, becuase we see the BARC speeder in the movie with diffrent clones flying them. Yet the Lego Clone Tank comes with the swamp speeder and the clones riding the BARC speeders in the movie are the clones riding in the swamp speeder for the lego version. ON another hand with the lego BARC speeder we get the BARC trooper figure, and we all know that the BARC trooper never rode on the bike in them movie. So the toy companys most likely have free rain over on what looks good to them to sell the stuff, and what they think will sell the toys to kids and collectors alike.

Ok 1:0 for ghst.

Well 2 or 20 in a speeder among several hundreds by foot with assault weapons still make no scout out of the trooper while 100% of the square headed guys we see in ROTJ are equipped with a speeder bike. So the logic of the pictures tell me. Those guys on Endor must be fast recon troops and those on kashyyk must be infantry. Therefore calling the scout biker (which is not official -> Scout Trooper is) is more correct than calling the camo guys biker (even though Hasbro likes to do that) Don't you think?

Thanks. torso_boy and I were discussing something similar to this the other day referring to the Galactic Marines. I think the Kashyyyk Troopers were standard troopers with just specialized lightweight jungle gear. So, calling them BARCs or Scouts without more reference material might be a little presumptuous. Of course this is just my opinion and you guys are more than welcome to flame away.

How dare I flaming your post - I would smash my whole argument ;).

Seeing as Legion Command will probably consult BSN on the character guide for this trooper, so what are we calling it? Assuming of course that Barc Trooper ain't it.
