Biker Scout pauldron

I think the pauldron looks terrible, I even dislike the Garrison branding on shoulder bells, I love badges on club jackets etc but to spend ages getting your kit to look so nice and accurate to then plaster it in badges is not my cup of tea.

David, to answer your question, pauldrons do not belong on Scouts. The picture you posted is not a pauldron, like the TD's wear, but more of a Brassard as worn in the military. Either way, these types of "add-ons" are usually ok for non-formal events or Cons, but not at official events. ;)

What he said. :) I never liked brassards when I was in, and that isn't an exception. I DO like the idea of the unit or whatever "patches" being put on the shoulder bells. While part of me agrees very much with lonewolf, another part is opposite. I strongly idntify with the units I served in the Army, and that has stayed with me now.

While a lot of work goes into the armor, part of the joy is making it your own. I plan on getting a spare shoulder bell to customize with a unit patch or two. maybe.

LOL In short, its YOUR armor, make it how you like, but for canon events, no additions.

That scout with the brassard was me, and I wore it to a cystic fibrosis charity walk in order to help promote the Legion, my garrison and this detachment. For the record, I never, NEVER wore it to a canon event. John, I'm not a fan of attaching patches directly to my armor either, which is why I made the brassard. And Jake, my back plate wasn't about to fall off. I had lost weight and the photographer caught me slouching. ;)

I know this might not be some people's cuppa tea, but *shrug* I feel that any scout carrying a BFG looks like they're trying to overcompensate for something. Different strokes and all that.

Ahhh the age old battle of opinions between cannon & cool!

Suppose it's all about why we troop:

- is it cos we wnat to look like characters from a film, striving for perfection and showing off to our peers

- or is it that we are living a dream that ignited within us some years ago and wanted to 'play' at being in a badass sc-fi army!!

Or a bit of both??

Hey let's face it, it'll always give us something to debate whilst propping up the bar on socials eh? As long as we're giving a buzz to (and getting a buzz from) our audience.

I like the 'arm-thingy' - where did you get it?

I think it's very practical for events where you must wear special marking like awareness marches etc. It's much better than cover your armor with event t-shirt or w/e you need to wear.

I'm still interested in this. Imo it looks great.

And trust me. We will see these and much worse add-ons when live action Star Wars TV series come. It'll be in the Empire era and I'm certain that Lucas will introduce many new sets of imperial armor and tons of mods.

Yeah, it's not gonna be sooner than 2014, but still.

There was a long thread on this a couple of years ago and I posted a couple of pics showing the shape of the item. Here is a LINK to my post in that thread, if anyone is interested in making one of their own.

I personally like the full size ones, ie training officer black and white type:

and the leather is more comfortable than plastic.

Many a baby has layed its head on it for a picture.

But the MO arm band is neat too.
