darren1970
Before I do the finishing touches to the boot/boot armour I thought I'd ask what different methods people are using to attach the 'toe' armour to the boot? Darren
Jimah
I had some wide elastic straps left over from my AM TK build. I glued one end into my shin armour, and I have the other end running out of the front of the shin, which attaches via elastic to the top inside of the boot armour. For the front (toe area) I have a small piece of elastic with two pieces of velcro running crosswise over it, one piece face up, the other face down. This velcros to the toe of the boot and to the inside front of the boot armour. I have found that this keeps the armour snug to my boot, yet allows enough movement when I walk that the armour doesn't clatter, clunk or move around more than required. Some pics: Disregard the 3 squarish pieces of white velcro shown on the top of the boot. They were part of the trial and error process when working out the armour, and are not used. The same goes for the long white velcro strip at the very front base of the inside of the armour. The important part is the velcro section above that strip, where the 'hinge' attaches. To put it all on, I add the velcro patch to the toe armour, then the boot. This effectively acts like a hinge. Then I lower the armour back over the boot and apply the strap from the shin last. This pulls the armour back and snug against the toe of the boot and the front base of the shin armour. Sounds complicated, but it isn't. Hope the pics help, give me a yell if this is as clear as mud Let me know if you want a picture of the inside armour without the 'hinge' attached.
