TK6782 Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Hey guys/gals, I'm looking at making my scout boots and I have a couple questions. First off I looked everywhere today to find a pair of boots with the gum coloured sole and I have no luck unless I wanted to pay $150. That being said I do have a pair of black rubber boots with a gum colored sole. From what I recall rubber boots are not allowed but, what if you covered the boots with white vinyl following the boot tutorial would they be allowed?
Dart Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 The thing about the rubber boots is that they're the wrong shape. They'll still look like rubber boots whether you cover them with marine vinyl or not. AFAIK, they're not allowed. Check your local discount shoe stores. Look for the cheap hikers (as in the boot tutorial) and pick up the ones that have the most tan/wheat colouring in the sole. Worst comes to worse, you save a few more pennies and hit up either Witness or Marcel for some boots.

bjsavage7 Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 The cheapest boots that can be made to look accurate are around $25 at Target. Check target.com if your local store doesn't have any.

Those are the ones I bought and modified for my build http://asiandoood.wordpress.com/2011/04/16...r-boots-part-1/ http://asiandoood.wordpress.com/2011/04/24...r-boots-part-2/ Hope that helps
