godzilla
Ok, guys I have all the soft armor that ladysewsforus makes am wanting to was them but I have some concerns. The mudflap is removable but the suede on the inner thighs are not, how has everyone been washing the flightsuit? Is the suede cool in the wash? Plus is the cummerbund cool to go in the wash? Thanks, Tim
jabbasdead
I wash mine is the washer but I hear a few dry clean. I no longer can iron my pouches to keep that box shape, so something to consider.
godzilla
You wash both the bund and the flightsuit? Are they made by Debbi? If so, how does the suade manage? I wash mine is the washer but I hear a few dry clean. I no longer can iron my pouches to keep that box shape, so something to consider. CB was made by me and has no suede, flightsuit was tailored by me and I used a washable micro fiber that looks like suede.
Guest Rogue Fett
The suede will lighten over time if you use a regular wash, but it will last longer if you dry clean it. As for the cummerbund, I was told that you're better off dry cleaning it as the quilt-like material in it will shift around in a regular wash leaving you with lumpy padding when it dries. I plan to put velcro on the suede & flight suit so I can remove it, & just regular the flight suit. Otherwise I'll be spending a small fortune at the dry cleaners. Hope this helps. Guest TREADEC
I don't tend to wash my cummerbund as i have weathered my TB up so need to keep it dirty looking My suede butt flap is vecro onto the flight suit too to make it easy to wash the flight suit
Witness
I put my cummerbund and racing suit in the tub with some laundry detergent, soak em up in really hot water, then stir occasionaly and let it soak overnight, then I hang dry on the shower rod. It has given me a nice distressed look on my bund and suit as some of the coloring from the suit has come off onto the bund over the years. Yay dirty! 4505Marcel
I wash all mine in the normal machine, on cool ish temperatures, I pre wash and tumble dry mine before making so most of the shrinkage is done already pre manufacture. The suede does lighten but thats pretty cool as the movie ones were faded.

I will be doing up my own racing suit mods and have found a nice doe suede at our local Beverly's that is thin enough not to be too uncomfortable when applied to the inside of the thighs. I like the idea for velcroing the but flap onto the suit. Does it just hang down from the waistband and then get sinched by the bund strap? That is what some of thereference pics seem to show.
