HUGE Shoulder gap

Wow...So I have SC armor, and am finally close to being done. After getting everything on, I have noticed a HUGE gap between front and rear chest plates. The tank is parallel, and everything is positioned right.

However, I have about 3 inches between the front and back shoulder pieces. I see where MC armor has some kind of cloth you can use to act as a cover, as it were. But this is definately too big for that...

 

 

I was going to trim a few pieces of ABS plastic, but velcro on the bottom of it, and attach it in the gap. Any other thoughts?

 

 

And yes, I DO have a very large chest. Roughly 46" too much benchpress in high school, I guess....

Wow thats a tough one you got any pictures mate? Im a 45" chest and my SC armour meets up just fine at the shoulders, my cloth bridge covers are 50mm wide.

I had a very similar problem mate, chest like a barrell, and made my own armor only to find a massive misjudgement and a huge gap at the shoulders, it took quite a bit of work to patch, i shaped strips of plastic over my shoulders using a heat gun (and a very thick sweater to stop skin loss) this i then shaped, trimmed and extended the chest and back plates at the shoulders using this plastic i shaped, which i rivited and stuck it in place very carefully with plastic weld, once it was all set, i used an epoxy plastic putty to fill all the gaps, sanded it off and repainted the lot, worked like a charm

Thanks for the tips! I ended up re-forming the pieces a little and then covering the gap with elastic, as per what the others do. Kind of a joint solution. Thanks again to all who helped.

I too have SC armor and bought white duck cloth at Jo-Ann Fabrics to cover the gap between the front and back pieces of the chest armor. I had Velcro sewn on each side and cut a slit in-between to allow for the t-strap to go through for the shoulder pieces.

Recently I noticed that depending on how I wore the chest armor, the pieces would overlap at the gap creating a visibly annoying "hump" to show. I fixed that by cutting a couple pieces of adhesive Velcro and running it over the top of each piece right where they met. I then re-attached my duck cloth pieces and eliminated that hump altogether .
