Recommended Posts

So i finally got my MC helmet today! YAY! so nice... but.... other then fans, what else should i upgrade it with. i see some people use a welding/construction helmet head band, and fans. im also thinking of using shade 5 welding lens.

i sitll need to some up with a fan set up......

thoughts?

also, whats the other piece? chin strap plate? im guessing so due to the slots on the side of the helmet....

Looks great!

I used Wendy ZAP pads to hold the bucket on my head, but it's really about comfort and stability in my opinion; go with what works for both.

I also have a shade 5 lens which is great for sunny days and still works well for indoor activities as well.

The plate you referenced is indeed a chin strap plate. I do not use the one that came with my bucket as the ZAP pads hold it in place well enough where it is not needed.

One "upgrade" you may want to look at is how to keep the visor shut so it doesn't flap open and closed as you're looking up and down. I have used both velcro and magnets for this and have found that magnets work best.

I have seen fans installed as well as headsets tied back to a small amp for mimicking the voices of the Biker Scouts from the movie. Personally, I have not gone either of these routes yet.

That's great that you have your bucket now.

If you have access to the 501st forums, there's someone selling squirrel fans. Alternatively, as I did for my TK, I bought a small 12V PC fan and battery packs.

Some people also recommend painting the inside of the helmet black because it supposedly absorbs light from a flash when people take photos... I don't really believe that.
