Wife's Boot WIP

Recommended Posts

Hey Gang, Im looking for a base boot for my wifes scout. I never in a million

years would have thought this would be the hard part. So far Ive been to

Wal Mart

Candian Tire

Naturalizer

Zellers

Payless

The Shoe Co.

A few thrift stores

and some mom and pop local places and I just cant source a good boot

in womans 6.5-7. Does anyone have an online source for a small womans boot?

Thanks for any help guys! Heres a pic from our troop today- My youngest son is the

clone thats holding the giant scout up LOL!

Can you order online perhaps? I live in France and went to half a dozen retail stores to find mine.... Nada. So I just ordered them. I googled for US shops and here's something interesting for you! Good luck...

Thanks for the link Diana -I think that pair would be more difficult than some of the

guys boots to modify for accuracy- but Im going to try some more 'womens work boot'

searches and see what comes up. Thanks for the advice- we may just have to order

something online.

(edit) Found these.... I think these are moddable:

Nothing's "wrong" with them LOL, its just that there are lots of grooves

in the sole, and with the spacing, it looks like it might be hard to cut in

the screen accurate grooves (three wide and 3 narrow).

(edit) Bought boots from Shoebuy.com .... too bad i couldnt source boots

locally, and I paid a lot more than I wanted to :-( Oh well, its done and

they're in the mail. Still feels good.

You're absolutely right about the color being a bit too white. We'll see

what they look like in real life when they show up. Some repro boots look

darker than the SA and some look lighter. Ill have at them with Mr Airbrush

though and maybe some mixed T-shirt paint. That'll take care of em. Thanks

for the heads-up!

10.00 .... thats awesome Tracy, good score. I just got shipping confirmation from

shoebuy.com ToDay?! Im used to online sales going a lot faster than that :-( oh

well. I did stop and grab the marine vinyl for the boots- so theres some progress

there. So far we just have the gloves and racing suit.... watching our mail for the

rest of the parts.... Id be biting my nails if I wasnt working on a kids RC and trying

to finish up my own clone! LOL

Ill post up here as soon as those boots come in... they shipped DHL (which I tought

was just for freight and big stuff).

I'm right there with you..Got my gloves, blaster, and suit ready. I'm just wating on the rest to ship.

My boot vinyl should arrive on Monday so I can work on those. The armor and helmet..... cue the crickets...

I'm patiently awaiting their arrival. Not complaining, I knew going it that it would be a wait.

I have other costumes that I'm making for the cons coming up to keep me busy until my armor arrives.

Plus I'm trying to help my man with his TK armor.

Good luck on your boots.. BTW- I was told to go heavy on the glue.. I'll post my progress too.

Definitely go heavy on the glue. After you've stretched the toe cap, make sure you get a really good layer of goop/e6000 before you slap the toe cap back on. I find that if you use a plastic knife it makes it easier to spread the adhesive around. Don't be surprised if you use most of a tube when you're finally done the boots. ;)
