Guest Paix
I finally have some money, and I think I have a good deal for both, but don't know which to choose. I can get a Rubies for $55 +shipping (Probably under $20) Or a Don Post for $35 +shipping (Again, probably under $20) The info I got from the RPF member who offered them to me: Yes, I was on the fence about it last night but I actually have two, one don post thats discolored and a bit torn, would be perfect if you were going to convert it though. the rubies one had the foam taken out of the helmet but the helmet itself is great, a bit warped like all rubies get, but very good for $55 + shipping. I can post up the Don Post one for you if you'd like, that one was going to be $35 + shipping. BUT I can also get a resin E-11 blaster for $70 shipped that just needs the scope, the grips (on the front of the barrel), and the trigger guard. Now I have to decide between the 3, I've wanted an E-11 since I was little little, but I've also wanted to start my Biker scout armor for years. So any and all points and opinions would be helpful, except stuff like it's your money, or your choice or something like that, that's not too helpful, I'd really like to know which is the better deal of the 3, and if modding the Don post or Rubies is fairly easy, then I'd rather get one of them since finished lids are worth about the same as resin E-11s when they are modded and not good vacuum form pulls. Chex
I say save your money for a good Scout bucket. Trust me, I can understand the want when it comes to things. I've had to hold off on a lot of things I've always wanted, but I'm in the middle of an animated ARC build, and I know if I'm going to get it done before Star Wars Weekends, I need to put my resources towards it. All about priorities bro. If you can wait with the armor, then I say go for the E-11, and save up for a KS kit which isn't that bad, and would be a good learning experience in building part of your armor. But if you really want a scout bucket and want to mod it, then go for the DP. You'll end up having to bondo and paint it anyways, so go for the cheaper and fix it. Bottom line though, is it comes down to you. Sorry.
Guest Paix
Thanks, that was actually a lot more helpful then you would have thought. /\ In my past work, Bondo isn't my forte, resin is, so I should probably try to keep clear of bondo work, at the same time, my new dremel should help with that.... Hmmm, it's probably going to come down to a coin toss. See, I can wait for the armor, and if I get a job (May in the next few weeks) then I can afford to get a KS lid with my first pay check as long as I get minimum wage and work a minimum time that they allow 16 year old's to work, and since I'm 18 I can earn over time. TK6918
I second Chex's post. Save up for the good stuff.
Dart
Consider this a third. You might be able to get the cheaper stuff now but you'll end up having spent more than if you just saved up for something decent.
jabbasdead
Wait, and get what you want....Do it right the first time, search the boards and there are many stories of regret

Not that I regret having gotten and modded a Rubies, but this post speaks the truth. By the time I had bought the helmet and all the tools and supplies, I was certainly in the range, if not over what a better kit would have cost. On the plus side, I now have a bunch of tools I didn't have before, and the knowledge that my helmet looks as good as it does because I made it so. Guest Paix
Thanks for the information, I ended up going with the E-11 as I could afford a good KS kit with my first paycheck and still have some money left over when I get a job, which may be very soon. ukscout
I'd suggest saving for a decent helmet and costume parts, cheaper in the long run as you'll be thinking about upgrading once your costume is finished...just like what I'm hopefully planning to do this year i.e UKscout v2.0. I'd suggest do your homework first and plan your costume i.e. make a wish list and start getting the easy items first which will help i.e. boots, Tbits tank top etc.... always ask questions even if there really stupid ones, the more info you get the better the build will be. flashcove
Sometimes the simplest questions haven't been asked yet, or asked so long ago that no one remembers that they were. A case in point: I asked which way the details on the bicep t-bits went, to the front or back, and suddenly members remembered that they had researched this a while back, and came up with answers and pictures.
