so while i am waiting for my Helmet from MC, i decided to see if i can find a small squirrel cage can to help keep me cool. all the ones i can find are huge, and might just be a tad big...

what do you guys run for fans? 9v or 12v power?

I usually run a 12v squirrel fan with a 9v and a switch. I believe there was someone here that was still selling fan kits.

I've actually got mine installed in the snout. Drilled out the aerator and the faceplate. Works a treat!

12v fan with 9v and a switch X2, but I need to move the 2 switches as I'm going for pathfinder now!

you should be able to find a small CPU fan at a place light radio shack and running a 9v is pretty easy and lightweight.

I have 2 40mm fans in the cheeks of my MLC, I also have the snout aereator drilled out with real mesh in, but to be honest my helmet never steams up as bad as say my TK.

Hi there,

Seems to be a tight squeeze to fit fans with maximum airflow to either de fog or cool you down, I tried all sorts of places where to fit my fan. Found at the nose/mouth piece there was NO room hindering ones ability to talk of breath. After fitting a bit of padding with a welders headband and a bit more foam. Only place i managed to fit a fan able to de fog visor/lens was at the front see my pic. It is ok there and even though looks like it against my head it's not, so does it's job to de mist/de fog.

I bought my micro fans from CLICK HERE

so here is what i ended up doing.

i moved my mic and added a toggle switch to my fans on my face plate. plenty of slack in the wires for opening and closing the lid.

here is the left side. this fan sucks air out of the helmet and sends it out the duct great. i also used heat shrink to hold the excess mic wire. better then zip ties.

this is a 12 volt AA batt pack. hits the back of my head a little, so i will switch to two 4 AA batt boxes, flatter. i also have 6 9 volt boxes with built in switch if anyone wants one (4 bucks shipped each)

here is the right side. this fan blows air in from the duct. helps circulate the air.

Man I wish I had room in my bucket for that kind of setup... My blasted head is too big.

the only part that takes up room is the batt pack. and im going to get smaller ones for sure

May i ask Duckman, do you have a gap behind your fan, reason being if not they WILL overheat, or fry the battery, no airflow results in failing of the fan working to full potential. Just curious!

the fans have a lot of room back there. i could add another fan to that one and still have some room! air flow is great
