Wickedfluxx Posted February 23, 2011 Share Posted February 23, 2011 I have SC armor, but I can tell you that I used "Loctite Plastic Epoxy" 7 min for my assembly. Chex I know has MC armor and used something else, he could probably tell you better in regards to his build. Yeah, that's because they're made of spring steel... super tough. I was lucky enough to have a machinist friend drill the holes with one of his hole-drilly machines. Good luck and try not to hurt yourself! As for your glue question, I used Goop (same as E6000). Also, because you have the MC armour (like myself) make sure you trim the shoulder straps accordingly. Ideally, you should have a gap (1/4" - 1/2" gap is ideal) sitting at the top of your shoulder. Might wanna get some help marking your pieces to cut. I actually just trimmed the straps on the chest piece - took about an inch off. I also bent the straps up a bit so they'd fit flatter to my chest/shoulder area, but use your discretion on that adjustment. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I love your technical name for the equipment. It's quite hilarious. Glue-wise it seems E6000/Goop is very popular. I'd shy away from anything too liquid like Weld-On 3 or consumer-grade super glue. Dart Posted February 25, 2011 Share Posted February 25, 2011 When you're doing the top straps for the chest/back, just wear a t-shirt or your flightsuit. Most of the adjustment will be from the bottom soft strap anyway. One thing you can do to check how it fits is to put the chest and back on, tape the top straps where they are and check things out in a mirror from the side. Ideally, you want the bottom of the chest and back to be about the same height or so. Take a look at the screen grabs and you'll see what I mean. Now, I don't know if you're a big dude with a deer gut or just a spare tire, but make sure you don't bring the chest armour up too high. Don't wanna look like it's chokin' ya. BTW, nice TD. I mounted my holster to my boot tonight, i used an ABS plastic sheet i had and cut out a reinforcement square for inside the boot. it works great! all i have left to due is add a velcro square to the center of the square and then sew on the hook part on the suit when i get it. I made a nice bracket to hold longer stainless screw for mounting the pack on the armor (screws MC supplied were WAY to small, and wing nuts would have poked me in the back) Here is the bracket mounted to the pack. i had to use a rubber grommet and double nut on the bottom screw. if i made it to tight at the strange angle in compressed the armor and made a gap along the side of the tank. here is a side shot of the tank after mounting. Top shot And i also sewed up my belt. turned out nice, though it does make my butt look fat when on.... and finally a close up shot next i have to attach the armor halves, and get the elastic on the rest of the armor. Now I don't mean to challenge your knowledge on Bikerscouts stuff as I am only a noob, but I remember seeing silver colored rivets used in the movies during my research. Personally though I am using white colored rivets as I think it looks nicer and more futuristic than the silver hardware look. Are both accepted for lancers? I fixed mine with velcro (it's a SC kit) and I see you got the "T" strap thing going on for the shoulder plates, which is, I assume, the way to go. Keep it up!
