Hi all...

I've seen several armour "kits" on offer, but honestly, which would you guys say is the best "newbie" friendly armour set available?

The SC looks good, and I've had people raging about the MC, but ultimately, which do you think is the most "Noob friendly".

And not just from those two kits- if you think anything else is better, speak up...

cheers, Rich.

Rich, all I can speak from is my experience in armor builds. I have built my TB, a TK, partially finished a TI bucket.......

I have MC armor....his instructions were clear, and when added to what is floating around on this forum, made for an easier build. I would strongly recommended this kit.

My 2 cents....

J.

There's a little more putting together with the SC then the MC, and if you want to get it up to lancer standards, you would have to work on the SC a little more. That being said, I have SC and it wasn't all that hard to get it there. You can't go wrong with either.

Fortunately, scout armour really isn't bad as far as assembly goes as compared to a TK or anything else. You really only have to assemble the chest/back and the belt. Even then, it's pretty straight-forward.

I have MC armour and I thought it was pretty simple to put together.

I'm actually wondering what armour to get too. I was thinking of getting KS armour but I havent heard much stuff about it, only their helmet. I'm contemplating on either the MC or KS. Can anyone give me a review/comparison for the KS and the MC?

MC and SC make the best scout armor. MC's armor is more accurate but there is a wait time. It is worth the wait though. :)

Ya I found some pic comparisons of the armour types and I see a lot of things in KS i don't like. How much work would I have to put into the MC armor? Would I have to cut the pieces and such like in SC or is it more ready? Not asking because im lazy lol, I'm just not experienced at all in this kind of thing and I'm afraid i'm ganna mess it up haha.

MC and SC armor come pre cut. I did some extra sanding on my SC armor and a modification to the tank, but they are not really required. On the Sc you will need to cut slots and drill holes, but no major shape trimming. Both armor sets come with instructions for assembly and are more or less ready to assemble. Unlike a lot of clone and tk armor sets, the two major biker scout armor manufacturers pre trim the armor for you.

I have assembled both and neither one was a challenge, my current kit has pieces from both. Either way, you will have a good kit to troop with.

Ok cool! I think I am going to get the MC armor. I don't mind waiting a little longer to look better =]. Thank you guys so much for the help.

Hmmm... looks like MC might get a bit of a rush soon then...

seems to be the kit to go for- now all I've got to do is get the $$$ together...

quick question about the MC kit- is the TD up to spec size-wise?

I think it's mentioned elsewhere that the TD on one of the kits is off-spec, but can't recall if it's the MC or SC..

That and the greeblies, of course...

Anyway, best start putting me pennies aside...

Both SC and MC thermal detonators will pass for basic scout and for Lancer with the appropriate greebles.

Is less work so on the MC armor as regards to cutting slots, drilling holes etc...

cool, soon as the money comes in the kit's ordered... ish ;)

on a slightly off topic note, is it greebles or greeblies?

I think greeblies might be a warhammer thing............

As most on here has said, SC or MC are great kits to work with. Mine is an SC and the little cutting and trimming was easily done and the quality of what you are getting is great. Just make sure you go to an auto shop and get black pin striping for the tank. Good luck and we are here for you if you need any assistance.

I am down to two choices. Either a sc or mc.

I have read many places that MC is a bit more expensive than SC. Anyone know the approximatly price on a MC. I couldnt find it on neither the forum or the netpage. I found the price on the SC but not on MC.

Could anyone help me out?

Other than a custom Mando, my SC kit was the first armor that I built. The few extra slots I had to cut were very easy. It comes with every piece of elastic and velcro you have to have, and the pinstripping is in a little round container. It does not come with the rivets, but you only need a couple.

I was more daunted about beginning than the actual work. Once I got over the "should I?" part, it was pretty easy.

My KS helmet was received assembled and painted in a trade for modifications on a Vader soft suit (actually a remake by my wife).

I've now worn itat more than a dozen troops, and it's more comfortable than my mando. My ID and ISB uniforms are feeling neglected in the closet, but as New Orleans gets warmer, they'll see the hot, humid sun.

I went SC armor with a MLCv3 bucket and it couldn't have been easier. I'm happy with my choices as it helped me cut my teeth into costume making and built my confidence up enough to go Clone as my next outfit. Once I get weathering down to the point where I feel comfortable on my Clone, I'll be going back to weather my TB :).
