lonewolf Posted January 19, 2011 Share Posted January 19, 2011 I originally had my mp3 music player into a front pouch but it distorted the shape a bit so I utilised the back hump to hold the player and speaker. The echoing space gives a great sound and the 501st Biker Scout Radio Chatter is very good. This leaves me space for the Rom FX behind my chest plate and separate to the radio chatter. Hi Dan, there are three versions, TB,TK and TD, they go for approximately 40 minutes each, silent gaps in the recordings and sound bites, general chit chat, some applicable jokes, quite good effect especially if you have a Rom FX or equivalent. Cyber Scout Posted January 20, 2011 Share Posted January 20, 2011 I did this set up over the holidays, i have an mp3 (with TB loop) and powered speaker in my left pouch and and my rom fx speaker in the right. i have the TB chatter not as loud as the rom so to give to impression of incoming reports from other scouts, it dose give that extra bit of realism and to those who have heard the loop love the "i've hit an Ewok bit" i will be doing the same for my Sandie back pack radio Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Used Industrial Velcro to secure the speaker and mp3 player, the player has about 7/8 tracks of the same TB chatter so just plays one after the other while out on troop, this can last up to 6hrs of play time each track lasting 45min aprox. The speaker needs a 4hr charge from new, then a top up when on troop i can test the charge with a multimeter tester. I bought 2 of the speakers, one for back up. As the speaker has a USB i decided to buy an adaptor for when out on troop just in case i need to re charge one of the speakers. So invested in one of these.... When you click to play the desired track, right click then save as, it will then go to your files , where you can then drag to you mp3 player, that should work! Col. I did the same thing but recessed my iPhone in the foam, it is about equal in weight with the speaker in the other pocket. Hopefully I can troop soon to try it out also! Guest TREADEC Posted March 17, 2011 Share Posted March 17, 2011 Hi Diarmuid, My set up is similar, though i have 2 Nokia speakers recessed in to foam in both pouches, i use them for my Rom/FX with a 12v battery box in a pouch too, it gives off a very loud sounds. No distortion or feedback or Rom repeating itself. The speaker i bought was from Tesco at £9.99, even though you need to charge it up via USB, it is very loud for the radio chatter on troop. Hooks up nicely to my Aker amp and I can just put it all in one pouch. Giving it all a test run at this weekend's Wizard Con up here in Toronto. Then she uses her iPhone to play chatter into the input port on the AKER while using the mic port for her voice. Both ports work at the same time. She puts it sll in one of her pouches. I do the same thing on my TK, TX, and TI. I like the idea of the back tank but I think I would like to be able to control the mp3 and change volume if needed. Sometimes you need to be quiet like when your being hunted by ewoks. Let me know if you need help finding and AKER voice amp. I can help with that. Dart Posted April 15, 2011 Share Posted April 15, 2011 I've been using it for the past bunch of troops. It definitely adds some fun when you're just standing around. One thing that I found out was that it also helps to drain the battery on my Aker amp faster since even when there's no noise, the amp is still being activated.
