Acrylikhan Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 and you can see your ears a little! great job, keep goin'!
Guest Scout_Trystan Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Looking good, when do you get snout? Hopefully this week. And I can see the ears quite well when I am actually wearing the helmet. They're just camera shy I guess
Guest Scout_Trystan Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Hopefully this week. And I can see the ears quite well when I am actually wearing the helmet. They're just camera shy I guess Hard to imagine this used to be so warped! Primer does make all your slip ups glaringly obvious! Still need to drill the new bolt holes, then I can prime the bucket and start getting ready for white!
Chex Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Dude, great job on the bucket, and kudos for having the courage to even try to mod it.
Guest Scout_Trystan Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 So, I only have one thing left to really fix. When I relocated the bolt holes, it moved the visor and facemask back. They are now rubbing on the front edge of the bucket. And I haven't even put the lens in. Once I get that fixed, it's paint time!
Guest Scout_Trystan Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 No pics at the moment, but I got the snout and decals in, and found a grey that closely matches the grey on the decals. The end is in sight! I should be spraying the first coat of white on Sunday. Stay tuned!
Guest Rogue Fett Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Amazing change from the football to the helmet.
Guest Scout_Trystan Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Gents - I have a problem. When I relocated the bolt holes, I made the visor impossible to flip up. The lens doesn't clear the edge of the bucket. Any ideas?
Guest Scout_Trystan Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 So I got that problem solved. I elongated the bolt holes, which allows the visor to slide forward enough to clear the bucket. So now all I need to do is add decals and a few finishing touches!
Acrylikhan Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 The velcro or magnets will keep it in place while troopin'. Good solution!
Hollywood Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Unreal! Great job on that mod! Any nice close-ups to share. Hard to believe its the same helmet. Have you done anything to reinforce it from future warping since its vinyl?

Acrylikhan Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Next, we'll have to get you some CPU cooling fans to keep you cool. Too bad Sears Towers isn't Sears Tower anymore...
Guest Scout_Trystan Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Next, we'll have to get you some CPU cooling fans to keep you cool. Too bad Sears Towers isn't Sears Tower anymore... Oh, you mean that sad attempt to attach another name to the Sears Tower? It's always going to be Sears Tower in the mindshare. No one outside of the Loop knows where the Willis Tower is lol. Anyways, pics! (The red circles roughly indicate support rods. There's 8 in all. 5 more than Franks lol) Still a few small issues to tidy up. I managed to lose my last decal (the forehead one. Luckily I am getting another one sent ASAP.
Acrylikhan Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I know what you mean... It's always going to be Sears Tower to me too... either that or a great "Diff'rent Strokes" joke. Excellent job! Seriously! How's the fit?

Seriously! How's the fit? Well I adjusted the band, and it's a nice fit. I can even wear the headset inside it. I just need to add a few magnets to the top so that it doesn't fall forward when I am looking down. No big deal, and it'll be invisible from the outside.
Guest amdevil Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 I have been following this because I seem to hit a lot of the same "concerns" that you have hit but You overcome them a little better then I do. Your lid looks great. Where do you get the magnets? what kind of magnets are they?
