F3RN Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Fellow Scouts, I was just wondering if I could get your opinions on my build. Any discrepancies that would prevent 501st membership? In the future I may do more upgrades for the ultimate screen accurate scout. I also wanted to thank this forum for helping me build this armed with only knowledge, a sewing machine and a dremel . Inkow that the tank topper does not appear well in the photos but rest assured it is on there . Witness/Dave Thanks again for pointing me at the right direction in the beginning. Couldn't have done it without your help, as well as the very informative inputs within this forum!! Thanks fellow scouts. Kyle
Chex Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 That should get you approved, no problem. Good job on it, and Dave is great giving advice on builds too. Paint that rivet on the bottom of your tank, and your belt looks like it's riding a little high, I'd just pull it down a bit. Good job though.
shadowmantis Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 i agree with chex everything looks great and you appear good to go... only problem i see aswell is the belt is a bit too high up grats on the build, now get approved
loosetoon Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Looks fantastic! You should be very proud and have no trouble getting approved!
Dart Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Throw a riding patch, mudflap and leg straps on that sucker and you'd probably be ready to apply for Lancer. Nice work!
F3RN Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 Thanks for the awesome replies guys. I have now been approved and my ID is TB 8504 Thanks to all of the scouts that helped me with this. Couldn't have done it without you guys and this excellent forum giving me tons of information.
Chex Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Wow that was quick. Just make sure you update your profile info and request Pathfinder status. Congrats!
F3RN Posted February 20, 2011 Author Posted February 20, 2011 Hey guys and gals, We just added the riding patches, straps and the flap to the undersuit. What do you guys think?
stormsurge Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Great job Kyle, that Ewok makes you look tiny though!!!!
F3RN Posted February 21, 2011 Author Posted February 21, 2011 Great job Kyle, that Ewok makes you look tiny though!!!! Thanks! When the time comes do you think it will be Lancer approved? LOL yeah there are big Ewoks roaming around here and I just happened to find one LOL!
Chex Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 You're close. Have to change the visor hinge bolt covers. Also, is that the KS snout? If so, that's gotta be changed as well.

So are you saying the riding patches, straps and flap are good? I just want to make sure before I proceed with further Lancer steps. Thanks!
lonewolf Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 I think your trousers look slightly baggy and the thigh straps are too loose .Nice costume.
F3RN Posted February 21, 2011 Author Posted February 21, 2011 I think your trousers look slightly baggy and the thigh straps are too loose .Nice costume. Thanks!! Do you use the proban racing suit for your undersuit? So are you saying that the thigh straps should stay parallel to the ground when standing straight? Thanks for the input!
lonewolf Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Hi Kyle, my suit is not skin tight, I have big thighs but I think the straps should be better form fitting, an idea may be to reduce them and put a stitch on the outside of your trousers to keep it up in place if your thighs are quite thin. Parallel would look neater.
Dart Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 When you're doing the thigh straps, it's good to pull them a bit tight. Measure how long they need to be to sit against your leg (when wearing the suit) and then pull in about another inch. That'll also help keep the baginess of the legs under control.
4505Marcel Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Agreed Id say your thigh straps want to be tighter and flight suit border line on baggyness, also because you have lowered your belt I can now see black between your belt and bund at the back, ideally your bund wanted to be anouther 1" or 2 wider to hide the gap. For lancer I would also question the colour of your pouches, the standard say white or off white ( that part is a can of worms really and hard to pin point) id say yours are too near beige looking at the pictures? Also the clips that hold your TD on will have to come off for lancer, the TD only wants to be tie wrapped on as per film and possibly a shade shorter bro. Your not far off though and you have a tidy scout there mate.
