darren1970 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Hi folks. Hope your all having a great Christmas. I'm on with my MB v1.5 helmet at the moment and a few questions crossed my mind as I was working on it. 1. The slot that goes across the snout. Does this need to be opened and mesh put behind it, or could it just be painted black? 2. In some builds I've seen a rectangular slot cut into the top of the visor, in others it seems to be missing. Is it required? If it is ( or even recommended ) are there any dimensions for it? Cheers guys. Darren
lonewolf Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Hi Darren, I built up Borotrooper's lid and cut the snout out slightly, if you do this you will need to put a dark material over the back as the gap is very close to your nose when you wear it. Painting it instead would work fine also. As far as I understand the slot is on the movie troopers so needs to be on yours as well. It is a nice hark back to the concept pics of the Biker Scout , regarding dimensions of it , well it changes from picture to picture in ROTS , some longer than others, just take a few measurements and mark it out well, the centre of this lid is a few mm off to get the centre of the hole and not too close to the front edge of the visor and keeping far enough away from the face plate below. Take a screen grab and go with it!
Fettski Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 i think i have seen some measurements on here somewhere. I will keep looking and edit if i find them before someone beats me to it. Im glad your asking alot of questions, I will be referencing your threads when my armor comes in.
Fettski Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Well, I could not find any measurements and I am up to this point on my lid. Could someone please post measurements they have used, since there isn't a standard size, maybe a common size so we can try to achieve the same look. I roughly mocked up about a 1 inch wide by 3 inch long.
mrbungle Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 the rectangle cut out of the viser is a must. i will post measurements of mine tommorow.
Heatshock Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 I remember fr tom's 1st build a while ago. I think it was 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 inches by 3/4 inches may hav changed since then
Bloodclaws65 Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I am this point on my lid does anyone have the measurements for the rectangular slot cut into the top of the visor . Help Thanks
darren1970 Posted April 12, 2011 Author Posted April 12, 2011 I am this point on my lid does anyone have the measurements for the rectangular slot cut into the top of the visor . Help Thanks See the post about Joe
darren1970 Posted April 13, 2011 Author Posted April 13, 2011 See the post about Joe LOL....my typing is getting worse. That should have read "See the post above Joe" The dimensions that were given there are the ones I used on my lid.
Jimah Posted April 13, 2011 Posted April 13, 2011 I was just slightly over that measurement wise... for some reason my brain wasn't ticking over properly when it came to measuring out the slot, so I ended up with 2.8 inches * .75 of an inch. Minute difference, but I found it easier to measure when marking it out. *Shrug* Of course I cut well within the marked position then used a file to work it back towards the marked lines, to avoid any overtrimming.
trooper1389 Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 I remember fr tom's 1st build a while ago. I think it was 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 inches by 3/4 inches may hav changed since then ok I see this is a must so my question is, is it center left right and front and back on the visor part? or is it a specific dimension from the front of the visor? Please help?
Jimah Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Mine is centred from left, right, front & back. So bang in the middle. Hope that helps
