501st Acceptable Boots

Recommended Posts

So working on my Scout and getting everything on the up and up so far, but the boots kind of have been a stumbling block. Kind of pricey for shoes so I was hoping for a cheaper alternative. I'm not going for Lancer so was wondering if there was any retail acceptable boots for the 501st or that the only option is to get custom made jobs?

I was hoping to get away with doing it without spending $200. My wife could do it by hand I'm sure but shes working on like 3 costume projects right now and she would kill me to dump the boots project on her

The tutorial is the recommended way of doing the boots. It's not that expensive either. It's something you can do fairly simply. As far as I know, there are no retail boots that are 501st acceptable.

Follow the tutorial...it's really not that hard, and you might have to bug your wife for about 10 min worth of sewing. Oh, you should go introduce yourself in the introductions section if you already haven't.

agreement with above ^

if you're willing to wander around a swap-meet you might be able to find a good work-boot that fairly matches the one used in tutorial. I did that and they turned out fairly decently.

Go the tutorial route and you'll probably save yourself enough funds to get yourself a blaster ;)

For the sewing part just observe your wife while she's working on her other projects, you'll pick up the skills in no time.

I do need to learn to sew lol . Wife does sewing as a hobby and makes money on the side with her projects so I was kind of leary of bugging her with more work when shes doing things for me. Already got blaster on the way though ;)

Boots are actually all I need really besides finishing to assemble the suit and was hoping for a quick and semi cheap alternative cause of the other work I got ahead of me. I might try the boot tutorial to see what happens

CA Boots, altho usable are not canon. They are too tall, lack the rear velcro and have the wrong sole. For price and wearability and being canon, you cannot beat making your own boots from the boot tutorial here. If I can make 30+ pairs of boots in 7 months, anyone can make a pair of boots.

Lol, I have long legs so they look good. And they aren't even that tall. I have compared them to other scouts' boots out here, and they are pretty much the same size. I like them alot more appearance wise. They don't sag either. Also sometimes scouts have their boots looking like too fat. Ah well. I've had every kind of boot and the caboots are the most comfortable and I can do so many hours in those boots no problem. Doesn't matter to me if they aren't canon. Plus I got em for like $50, so RKO lol

This is a forum for Biker Scouts in the 501st Legion. Some people may care if they are canon or not. One of the purposes of the 501st Legion is to strive to make our costumes more screen accurate, not easily put together with whatever we can find. There are two people in my garrison who wear CA boots and the top of the boots is under their knee armor. Which is wrong for the costume. Yes, some people may not care about that, but I believe in general, people are striving to be more accurate. Of course, doing it cheaper and more accurate at the same time can always be a bonus.

Dude just order a pair from Witness, and stay away from that other boot. Its not accurate, and looks way off in person.
