Official CRL?

This project has offically consumed me. Is there an official CRL yet? Or is it more of a guideline still, with the goal to be as movie accurate as possible? Maybe its that time of year, with holidays and all, but it seems that activity has slowed down a little. Or maybe its just me who is obsessed these days with every little nuance of my WIP.

Have you gotten in touch with your local garrison? I'm sure there's of talented folks there who can help you out even without a CRL. ;)

What MrBungle has come up with and what most of the current Kashyyyk Troopers have followed as a basis for this costume is the following link:

http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=5025

Remember that this character is based off of a CGI character. There is no "definitive" specific item for each part of the costume. Most of the pieces are created by a handful of people or by the ones making their costume. All parts, thusfar, have been discussed over the past few years, and agreed upon by those that currently have one and are a part of the MOD Staff for the Kashyyyk Troopers. (See MeBungle or Lonescout.) I have only had mine for almost a year and a half. I'm still learning. This is a very young costume, but it has good references and great results, as seen in the current Kashyyyk Troopers' costumes.

So, until it is a "definate" CRL, the current guidelines are what we go by. Tom can correct me if I am wrong.

We can try to answer any questions that you have, but I also suggest reading past build threads and the different sections of the Kashyyyk Trooper area. (I.e: Kashyyyk Scout Armor, Soft parts, Weapons, Boots, etc.)

The few, the proud, the Kashyyyk Troopers...are increasing!!

I hear what you are saying and have just posted questions for clarification just on the shirt and pants before I dye them. ("Future KSTx2" thread.)

In reading most of the background threads, I have just gotten more confused, bearing in mind that this is an evolving costume.

For people like me, I would appreciate if some of the "accurate," i.e. agreed-upon CRL info could be compiled with step-by-step instructions of how to make the parts and what materials to use. I know how hard this is with people coming from all over the world and not having access to the same brands, etc, and having real lives to attend to, but...

For example: I don't know how to sew the straps (elastic?) to the vest. Do you sew down both sides all the way to the bottom, or is it loose as I have seen pics of the strap hanging out from the vest, or do you sew one line down the middle. If it is loose in the middle, do you somehow attach the ammo boxes to these straps? So many details not identified.

I run my own business, plus see patients all day, plus have a family to raise, so I know how precious free time is to everyone to answer my questions, but I have so many and don't want to screw up on not one, but two of these costumes.

Sorry to hijack your thread, sgtski.

Sorry to hijack your thread, sgtski.

no worries, you are on the same topic as my post.

I realize the difficulties with a definitive list. And that it will constantly evolve. It just seems that there are certain details that are being ironed out and approved and it would be nice if that can be published so those of us who are making our costumes now can benefit from that. For example, MrBungle, I saw you mentioned your thigh pockets are 5x7 and where they are located. Maybe, if we all agree that that is a good size and are getting approved with that then we can set that on a list of pending or accepted standards. Also we agree that the vertical straps on the cummer are 1.25- 1.5 inches wide and grey in color? Are these details that are needed more for a "lancer" status?

I hope I don't come off sounding like I am trying to tell anyone what to do. I am just running into confusion over the small details as I get into actually putting my soft parts together.

I am willing to assist in anyway I can to help this project mature as we move forward.
