looking good.

a few small suggestions.

pull your boot armor up. they are suppose to be on top of your shin armor. you need to be able to see some of the boot sole in the front.

pull your chest, comberbund and cod piece up too.

also your foreamr armor is upside down.

it is looking good, just need to adjust where the armor sits on you.

I am tracking about the shin/ toe armor. That is a project I am currently sorting out. I kinda just sat the toe armor on my boot and it moved on me.

I am thinking of a suspender idea similar to LSFU to hold up my cummer. Either that or some kind of snap or velcro solution.

I thought that the tapered/rounded end of forearm armor went towards the hand, it may look a little funny in the pic but that is how I was wearing it. If that is not the case, thank you very much for sorting me out.

The cod, I will have to hold comment on it till I get it in place correctly and troop with it. I really have no basis to compare it to since this is my first costume, and everything feels, unique. My arms feels cluttered and I had no idea how heavy my cummerbund would be with lightweight cloth covered foam pouches. I still have some sorting out before I can offer a true opinion.

Stay tuned for more updates.

  • 2 weeks later...

getting ready for a con tomorrow. I think its close enough for a test troop at a con. I know im about 95% done, so please go easy on the obvious things i need to get right, like missing thigh boxes and no camo on lid.

That camo seems to be coming along very nicely Ski!

However I notice that you haven't cut the 'sun-roof' detail into the brow of the bucket yet. Would that not have been easier to do prior to painting? I understand the con coming up = a want to have it ready to troop... do you plan to cut & weather it around the current paint, at a later date?

You are correct. I will have to go back in and make some changes and possibly repaint, no biggie. I have to re bondo my backplate due to some cracking. I also have to install the screen in the side vents and change out the lens. The one in it is just a quick fix, I'm waiting on a green lens to come in. I'm glad i trooped it at the con, most people don't even know the difference. Here are 2 pics I have from the con. Alot of Trek and Serenity fans there.

looking good, you might want to add some velcro the the cod piece to keep it down!!!!! LOL!!!

At ease, soldier!! No need to salute!! :D

Seriously, looks good. Just get the little details finished and GET THAT GEAR DIRTY, SERGEANT!!!

Nice one Ski... wouldn't know you had cut the sun-roof out after painting it - well done!

Fingers crossed the mesh and lense arrive soon for you and you can call this project a wrap :)

How did you go with your first troop... not too many armour kisses I hope ;)

first troop went well, several pic requests. had to redesign the inside of my helmet due to pressure on my nose. That is now fixed. Had 2 minor repairs to make when suiting up. Make sure to carry some super glue in your trooping bag. next is to make my dc15L. I will make a wip once I get my research done on how i plan on doing it.

The rubber straps and rubber greeblie (back piece) on the left bicep, should all be the same lighter color of grey as the front greeblie piece. And the straps that connect the chest and back piece (over the shoulders) should also be the same lighter color of grey.

Other than that, looks outstanding!! Well done Ski.

(And don't forget a black balaclava for under the helmet.)

So a little bit darker paint on the one left bicep greeb to match the others is what your saying? no prob. and roger on the balaclava, I just need to order it. these are great suggestions and i will make it happen. I don't see them stopping me from getting accepted though, do you?
