DIY cummerbund question

If one of you guys who makes these yourself can help me out, that'd be much appreciated...

Here it goes:

I assume that to make the raised ribs on the front that a quilt batting is used. Is it generally only used in the front, where the vertical stitches are? I mean, the batting doesn't go around the entire cummerbund, correct?

Also, I've seen some people attach the pouches to the cummerbund and other recommend attaching them to the chest armor itself. What's the general consensus on this? If they are to be attached to the diaper, then what method is best? Just stitched on?

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Yep I use 4oz wadding all around my bunds and cod. I use large poppers in my cod bottom also to join the 50mm elastic which is sewn into the back of the bund as velcro in my opinion is pants and comes undone alot.

Pouches I supply with velcro on the top tabs so people can stick into the chest armour if they so wish, but personally I have mine sewn onto the bund intself, as i have my sound system, batteries and speakers in the pouches which are a fair bit of weight so would trust velcro alone

  • 2 weeks later...

My batting goes all the way around, and in the cod piece, although, I did not use quite as much in the cod.

I attached my pouches to my bund using a velcro sandwich....

The back view here shows the velcro that attaches to the black velcro on my vest

This side shot shows how the pouch flap flips over the top of the bund...this gives it an extra measure of support and is attached to the BACK of the bund with velcro.......this sandwiches the pouch flap between the bund and the vest, via two sets of velcro.
