Dart
Hey folks, Just thought I'd see what everyone else out there was doing to keep their right boots from slumping too much. Here's the inside of mine: I've got a 6" x 2" strip of velcro in there along with a 1" elastic strap that I loop through a loop on the inside leg of my undersuit. It holds alright but I'm still in search of something better. I'm thinking of reinforcing the vinyl with some plastic but I really don't want to rip my boot apart and re-do it. So, what's your right boot look like?
GosHawk
I would also like to hear some different ideas since I will be receiving my boots shortly.
Guest ladyscout1979
I would also like to hear some different ideas since I will be receiving my boots shortly. Hay well I'm going to use Velcro on the inside of the boot and on the the right leg a patch at the front and back of the boot near the top then on the suit see how it works save damaging the boots to much. Also I do think a clip or popper inside the boot and on the suit may try that you would only need one near the top of the boot .
4505Marcel
Cant say ive ever had an issue of slumping boots They both will drop about 20mm or so as you get the natural creases in the ancles, but this happens to any boot, my boots are just fine with the gun in the holster and mine are now 2 years old
Feliscout
I have this issue as well! I hate wearing my heavy resin blaster in my holster because it pulls the vinyl down and has caused it to tear where the holster catches the sag. I even made sure to round the corner of the plastic to avoid that. I really don't want to redo my boots, though I probably should now that I have a leather sewing awl. Objetivotuning
Im thinking to add some velcro at the top of the holster side, my boots are made of leather and there is not risk of tear it, but if i walk with the blaster inside the holster my boot down a couple of cm and i dont like it, looks ugly. flashcove
I use velcro in the boot mating with velcro on the suit leg and it seems to work just fine, so far. Here's a little tip for storage. After letting the boots air for a day after a troop, use an egg carton with velcro on the bottom side to hold it up while not being worn. Stuff the egg carton all the way down to the inner sole, and match up stick-on velcro with the velcro in the boot. Here's a picture of my boot being held up without the egg carton in it. The egg carton is lying beside it. And here's a picture of it standing on its own with the egg carton inserted. And inside the boot with the egg carton inserted That way they can stand up, and take less room while stored between troop. I have a carton in the left boot also, just to strengthen the ankle of the shoe, and so the vinyl boot.
Dart
Actually, one thing I do is to store the boot without the blaster inside. I do something similar to what flashcove's done above. Seems to help. I'm still thinking of ways to reinforce that side without adding too much weight or letting it get misshapen. Should've thought about this before I glued/stitched the barrel to the boot!
bluehickey
It must be all about the weight of the gun, because I too have never had a problem with the boot sagging, but I have an all foam, light weight blaster.
flashcove
It can also be the weight of the vinyl of the boot. Mine is pretty light, but all that was availabel locally. And my blaster is zip-tied into the holster to keep little fingers from running away with it.
TB-7076
I have a suede lining for my leather boots. As they're made to my sizes they also fit tight. Though I have a rubber blaster atm it probably may take more weight. I actually wnt that more complicated route to avoid loose fit as most scout boots seem to suffer from. Here is what it looks like complete http://www.madphisto.net/endorphil.jpg
Feliscout
Those boots look great!!!!!1 Where'd you find the white under boots?
TB-7076
I bought them from a german ebay source for 14,- €. The brand was GEO but it seems they're only sold during summer season or out of production. The problem with these boots is - while quite close to the original in some aspects - it is only available in european women sizes 35-42. I had quite some problems to fit in the 42 so I'm going to switch with version 2. Palladium boots may be my next choice. Another problem with the Geo Boots was the height of the heels being too low and the comfort during longer events. So definately only a choice for girls and men with tiny feet!
