Guest NAZGÛL Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Hi! So Ive been reading up and down all the threads around here. Im impressed by all knowledge and skill! Just like to get some input on my thinking. Im aiming at getting a biker helmet. I hope to be able to mod it to look close to the screenused lids. What Im looking for: 1. A kit. I want to build it, not get a finished one, half the fun for me is building and painting it. 2. Not to far off in the looks. I can mod some stuff, but the basic shape ought to be right. 3. Id like it to be ABS plastic, as the originals. 4. Id like it to be not to wrong in size, compaired to the original. I have a big head, so size does matter. 5. I dont have the founds to buy the most expensive helmets. And if Im to mod and work on it, I find it releaving not to cut and bend in to expensive stuff. So Ive comed to the conclusion that I have pretty much one option: The KS, right? Would it be difficult to mod the gaps and stuff on the KS? The overall shape looks pretty good to me, could it be made close to the original. How is the size compaired to the original? Price for a kit should be less expensive I guess. Would a kit take less time to get too? Any advices greatly appreciated!
lonewolf Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Hi Matti, yes it looks like you want to buy the KS kit, it is pretty good, I have one. They are about the same size as a Don Post /Rubies version so are smaller than the original, I will post up the size comparisons hopefully this week as I plan on taking some pics with the DP, KS and MLC V3 together in one photo to avoid any misunderstandings. I spent ages getting the dome and back shell to fit nice but it is possible, I eventually painted the lid and it looks great now, the eyes are very small but you can cut them out to a decent size. The 3m seriies headband can fit into it as well , as long as your head isn't massive. Good luck future Pathfinder.
Guest NAZGÛL Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Thanks! I look forward to see the pics! And thanks for the tips on what KS areas to adress. Cheers
