darren1970
Hi folks. I'm gonna make a start on the desert dpm camo I've got. I know it needs to be dyed black then brown, but what shade/colour brown are people using? I'm in the UK so Dylon seems to be the main maker. Grumpy
Use the brown first. Get them as dark brown as you can. It might take a couple of times to get that desert tan do go dark brown. Then add some black to make them a bit darker. The time length you leave them in will result in the darker color. Don't go too long on the black. Keep checking on it to make sure the camo pattern hasn't been wiped out. It might look like it when they are wet, but the camo pattern should be there when they dry. I don't know what brands you have in the UK, but many of us in the U.S. use a brand called "Rit". And they just have the simple "Dark Brown" color. If Dylon in the main source, check and see if they make a dark brown. With mine, I left the camos in the dye for quite a long time. They were so dark when I took them out I thought I really screwed them up. But after I let them drip dry and then tossed them in the dryer for a little bit, they lightened a bit. It would also be advisable to make the thigh pouches and sew them on to the pants first before you dye them. And remove any pockets from the shirt that aren't necessary. To kill two birds with one stone. Or two wookiees with one blast. Hope it all works out for you. Slow progression works fine. Don't rush into anything. Keep us updated on your results. Heatshock
hey dude - soz I have been away mate this is my dye job - http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?show...amp;#entry54022 my was only Dylon woodland brown. I resisted the black as I thought the colour looked pretty good on its own. not sure whether its cos I threw in a whole packet of dying salt (thei nstructions say it isnt necessary!). also it depends on the initial condition of the DPMs to begin with - mine were quite new, so I think took on much more darkness. I would start brown - and then darken as appropriate IMHO you have my mobile right? I am middle of my kst build as well, and should have some of the custom mix paint left over if you need; or perhaps...... armor party? Although with the KSt - its the samned soft parts which are the biggest headache. Just ask Skip lmk how it works out man Nate
