LW, you are truly mastering the scout bucket. I would be honoured to be allowed the chance to purchase one of these when you deem them ready. Amazing doesn't even begin to cover it.

Definitely looking pretty nice. The upper edge of the lens area still seems to be too curved upwards and don't have the levels from the two cheek ridges that goes up and all around the lens area - most fan and licensed helmets don't have that. Would make yours a lot more accurate if you added that feature and added more depth to the lower cheek ridge, like seen in this picture.

Hi Too Much Garlic, I think this picture is great to see the nice concave cheek areas and the "bags" uder the eye area, yes my present lid suffers a bit here, the vac mould is nice and deep but I have tried to use 2mm ABS on the pulls which isn't taking the sharpness just as well as the styrene I was using to test the moulds. The ridge above the eye area is nicely shown on this pic , thanks, I will try to get this detail into the moulds for next time. I have looked at the eye upper curve many times and don't think it is too far away. When the helmet is photographed from higher, this curve can appear almost straight, likewise from below it is very curved. I have adjusted this area many times, I also tried to get the curve of the visor to be a similar curve as the eye area, yes they are a bit different but not so far away. Thanks for the help, everybody has been great with suggestions and I do try to see the helmet through folks different perspectives. I really have tried to be unblinkered whilst doing this, it has become quite an obsession and I have made sure I take comments in the spirit they have been given.Nobody can be a worse critic than me , this is why this lid has taken me so long.

Man this is gonna be the greatest TB lid ever when you get it perfected. It is already miles ahead of most lids already out there. TMG knows his stuff, as ive seen on most boards he's on. i am looking forward to owning one of these once you are finished!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Lou, but I must confess that I'm no expert on the Scout compared to most of the guys here. I'm constantly amazed by the level of knowledge and info you guys bring forth to the rest of us. I just fell in love with the Scout because I think it's a very evocative looking helmet, with lots of character and the one in the picture I posted above is about the pinnacle of how the perfect Scout looks. LW's effort is about the closest I've seen to someone realize that look... so that put his pretty high up on the awesome scale for me. With just a few minor tweaks I'd say he nailed it big-time.

I totally agree, LW's effort is def the closest I've seen as well! You may not be an expert on the scout in comparison, but you have a great eye for detail, and can pinpoint "fixes" better than anyone I've seen post on most boards. Usually if you think something looks "right" its likely it is! I was actually thinking of PMing you about the "fixes" for my Vader helmet since i can't exactly pinpoint what i need to fix from the base DPCA face...but thats a discussion for another board/PMs lol!

Again LW, GREAT job!

Awesome work lonewolf, being waiting for ages for an improved and accurate ver of the scout lid. Pls putt me down for one if this ever does gets mass produced.

Btw, about the mention on "pulling of hairs" for some in assembling the kit, maybe you could offer a service for the assembly and painting of the helm like ks does

This masterpiece would definitely be the icing on the cake for my trilogy helms collection

I have almost finished my latest helmet, I am quite pleased with the finish. It is as close as I can get to owning an original, there are still some guesses as to what the black material is behind the ear openings but with all the original pics I have studied it will have to do. The 3M Speedglas bolts have been changed lately so they are now black and very slightly different. I will use the few old type sets I have for these two builds and will fit them using a square hole in the visor and a large round hole in the helmet to match the plastic nut. I am not certain if this is the original way but if I cut a small hole in the helmet, the 3M bolts haven't got a good enough grip of the threads as they are quite short screw bolts. Pictures seem to show the nut close to the inner sides. Pictures will be up later once my son comes home with the camera.

Hmm... I might have to double-check my supplier to see if they've changed over. What's the part number for the newer ones?

BTW, that is one heck of a beautiful bucket! I would easily sell a kidney for one of those. :P
