lonewolf Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Yes Phil, I fully agree that the SWin C lid is the best lid to reference, it has all the best angles, plenty of pics and is the most screen used version. Regarding a softer material for the "Stunt" version , yes that is very possible although the footage with Luke and Biker Scout neck break scene shows the lid is not rubbery or soft looking, maybe just because it is a close up "Hero" version. Sorry I don't know. I hope we find out about these things some day.
Guest Pilot Taz Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Have seen John's lid and it is a sweet bit of kit, would be proud to stick one on.
lonewolf Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Any updates? Love to see the crown. Patience, young Padawan, I have ordered some ABS and look forward to vacforming the updated moulds as much as you! Hopefully there will be some pics up later in the week. I am constantly tinkering with the face plate, I hope I haven't concaved the cheeks too much. Some pics really emphasise this area due to the light source and others give a flatter appearance, I also am a bit unsure how the dome will appear, too high is as bad as too low. The jaw line seems to be looking good beside the longer back side, thanks for your interest.
TB-7076 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Have already reserved a 3M liner and ordered new extra bolts *cough, cough*
Guest NAZGÛL Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Oh, didnt mean to sound pushy. Just interested in the good work.
lonewolf Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Just received my ABS 2mm white pinseal , here is the first faceplate pull, sorry about the pics, I hope to vacform the other four pieces tomorrow and put version two together.
Guest Skupilkinson Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I'm not gonna bother! You already know how much we love it!
Tony t Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 RE FB chat i checked out you thread. Totaly amazing build. So much dedication and hard work. If you go into business making lids you will wipe out the competition (not to mention make a mint lol)
lonewolf Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 So... any new updates? Pretty please? Hi Dart, yes I have finished prototype number two, it is no longer in my possession , getting closer with the shape I think, I am going to make the nose section a bit longer and a few small areas need some minor tweaks but hopefully I will be able to post up some new pics soon.
Chex Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Hey wolf let me know if prototype #3 needs a new home when it's done.
Heatshock Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 john sorry abt delay mate - you got to do a run of these helmets guys I am the lucky so-and-so in possession of prototype 2 of this lid have a whole lot of pics to follow comparing modded rubies, KS and LW lid. Unfrotunately I recently sold my Altmann's loving the new dimensions yes, a few minor things to iron out, but as is, it is so much better than whatever is out there at the mo I have doing a KS rebuild as one I got a while ago was in state which wasnt pointed out during the point of sale. Ho hum. but fortunately, that allows for easy comparison. The full helmet is the modded Rubes. Grey the KS and white kit the LW guys, johns work speaks for itself. who here, would not buy this helmet in its current state, even mroe so when John tweaks it a little more?!!
TB-7076 Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 [...]mate - you got to do a run of these helmets [...] who here, would not buy this helmet in its current state, even mroe so when John tweaks it a little more?!! Yeah I say that the whole time - Hope to see progress but take your time. I'm more interested in good results than quick updates
Guest Skupilkinson Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Great pics Nate!!! I agree mate, the wait for this will be well worth it!
TK6918 Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Please excuse my lack of knowledge in the scout trooper helmets, but would this new helmet be more accurate than the MLC v3?
Dart Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Please excuse my lack of knowledge in the scout trooper helmets, but would this new helmet be more accurate than the MLC v3? Very much so. The MLC is based off a Don Post bucket originally. The ones that are featured in this thread are much closer, if not spot on, to the original screen-used lids.
lonewolf Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Thanks for the comparison shots Nate, it certainly shows the differences fairly clearly. Yes I will get to work cleaning up the moulds and try to get a few made.
ukscout Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Please excuse my lack of knowledge in the scout trooper helmets, but would this new helmet be more accurate than the MLC v3? FYI The MLC helmet was based off a spare Don Post helmet that I sent too MLC as I wanted a decent scout helmet too troop in, when I trooped for a few years with the UKG. BTW nice looking new lid tho' LW would be interested in one once the final tweaks have been done
ShaunPug Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 I am also extremely interested in this lid. And by that I mean interested in purchasing one, if that is something that may happen
Arcturus1020 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 It's about time someone did this! LOL The helmet looks fantastic!!!
