The Making of a New TB lid

Yeah, I have and extra KS bucket layiing around that I wasn't sure if I was going to try to sell or trade... but seeing the development of this helmet pretty much makes up my mind. I'm going to have to sell it to score some funds for one of these bad boys. That is one beautiful helmet.

Agreed. Must be tricky to get it right, but you are SO close, it would be a shame to stop now. Really think with the last few improvements you'll have a helmet that will kick arse.

Agreed!

Looks like the troopers are lining up for the new bucket! I'll be glad to have one that will fit my watermelon sized head.

Just got new decals made , now a bit bigger, the three brow lines were too thin in comparison to the original. I spent yesterday making a sculpt/mould for the chin cup and vacformed a few this morning,

Brilliant! Man, I was all set to start off my adventures in 501st-land with a TK set. You know, go classic, get my kit building skills up to speed.

No way I'm going to put off building a TB now. LW, please put me on your extensive waitlist. I must have one of these lids!

I'm keen on getting one of these helmets too!

How do you all think the experience of wearing this will compare to the fibreglass of MLC?

I know this is jumping the gun a bit: I need a bucket before November for a charity fundraising event. Do you think these will be available in-time for that? Should I go for the MLC v3 to make that deadline?

^Agreed.^ This is something that I can see being available *maybe* next year or late this year. Can't rush the guy. ;)

Look at it from the bright side - at least LW is not promising anything he cannot fullfil.

But I know the feeling ;)

I wouldn't put any sort of deadline on this helmet project. My advice would be to go with any other current helmet provider.

Thanks for the advice. I also don't want to put any more pressure on LW than everyone else already has.

Absolute, utter... AWESOMENESS!!! :D I'd make the swim to get one. My KS was a welcome challenge to build, having built an AT, a TS and a TK (now a TD) from our H-I molds (lots of gluing and shiming and such to fit different body types). Glad you are taking the time to do it right!

Having seen the post on the TB helmet that came from Steve Sansweet's collection, including the inside details... plus the info on how they were made by the guys who made them: you are on the right track!!

I don't mind a mm off here or there: anyone that close to take the measurement is WAY too close anyway.

Keep us all posted! I'd gladly get in on a pre-order if that helps to make the decision to kit these up for folks.

Did I forget to use the word "AWESOMENESS"?
