Agent RayBans Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Hello all, newb question alert I'm sure as some of you have seen Atin is doing some runs of TB armor for a very modest price over on the 501st forums, which caught my eye. I've done some searches around the forum and a few of you in the past advised staying away from Atin/CNC for misc reasons and to pursue other suits. I was wondering if that opinion still holds today? I realize that its inaccurate compared to other suits, and Atin's kit does not include anything but the body armor. But this suit would be for my girl friend who is not really looking for super accuracy, but base 501st acceptability. She is around 5'3" and around 120 pounds, would this suit be too big for her? Thanks in advanced!
TK6918 Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 This may not apply to the biker scout armor, but I seen and built a set of atin clone armor, and it was the worse thing to try to put together and make it look accurate. As a clone, parts need to match up and be made seamless, and the quality of his pulls is just horrible. What you pay is what you get. You may end up spending more money in the long run by either fixing, replacing parts, or spending way too much time getting it done.
Witness Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 I agree with Manny exactly. A good set of armor costs more. The SC armor is not expensive and is good quality. MC is excellent quality and a little more cost. You're not likely to find someone to suggest getting cheaper armor. Contact bluecyclone for an info file on contacts and suggestions.
Cyber Scout Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Well it's personal pride in your suite, to many people always say well its just to pass 501st standards which for the Scout are way to low, to many people build scout with cheap armour and not all the parts on the costume i.e butt flap and stuff, this thing should be in the G.M.L, (you don't see Boba Fett without his boots or rocket pack) to have a costume to be proud of you WILL have to spend.

I know I would like to see my girlfriend in a Lancer quality suit (I have an "Elite Status" TK over on whitearmor), but money is the main object right now. The decision to go for base requirements is/was purely from a financial stand point, sadly. Anyway, thanks for your responses guys, crisis averted! I'll have to make sure her and I do some more research before we start collecting pieces.

I'm working on my scout now (SC) and I bought a cheap jumpsuit to save money. It's not lancer approved but it troopable. Besides kids don't really notice the difference. It's just fun to go that extra mile and make something near 100% accruate over time. Guess what I'm trying to say is you will always be making improvements over time. I'm still making improvements to my TD and I'm deployed.

Agreed. I've ordered SC for my armor. Def do your homework, and don't by cheap for the sake of buying cheap. Unless you get a really good deal on something. There's a reason you see SC and MC posting here, and not Atin.

I see a lot of people on the main 501st boards rushing to send Atin payments because hell pop in every now and then and do limited runs, then usually a while after you'll see those same people selling the armor kit because they'll change their mind once they see the kit in person. 1

cricket71 Posted September 26, 2010 Posted September 26, 2010 I had bought a set of his black armor a while back and soon found there were several discripancies with the armor that would have to be replaced before it would even get "base" 501st acceptance. As for your girl friend she would probably not be able to wear it as I could not wear it. It was way to big for me. I'm about 5'11, 145lbs. Trimming it was out of the question as it would lose what detail it had. Smitty Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 I had a set of this last year, I'm 5'10" 155 pounds and it was too big for me. I started trying to mod it to fit my frame and once I got frustraded with it I kicked it to the ebay. Basically what everyone else has stated.

Plus shes a little..how do we say...top heavy, so the Atin actualy fits her better than my MC armor. There is NO WAY she would fit her ta tas in the MC. lol. Is it accurate, not quite, but its not that bad. I think the scout he does is decent, it depends on your body type and needs. I also feel the pulls are good and the thickness of the armor is good. His clone armor i bought, and sold not long after. Wasnt happy with it at all. That being said, if you can aford the SC or MC armor, and your not a top heavy chick, id go with one of those over the Atin.
