TK-2693
Hey all, So the soft parts for my friend's suit has turned into a nightmare. I've had no problem with the blaster, armour or helmet but I've had to get the cummerbund sent back to the maker and then to my outpost CO to get it right and now his boots are being a pain in the rear. We bought the boots from CA and we're really hopeful about them. We got them after waiting a few months (expected) and they look great, but come to find out they are not like the ultra-approved hiking boot mod (no real problem), they are 16" high (a bit of a problem) and my friend can't even get his foot into the boots at all (huge train-wreck scale of a problem). We've decided to try to make the boots in the tutorial (it's going ok I guess) but now we are stuck with these $300 pair of boots. I've called the company who have said that they can cut them down 2" and stretch the throat so his foot can fit (a high in-step?) for another $100 + S&H. My question is has anyone else had these problems with these boots? I guess I just want to know so I don't feel like we are just a bunch of noobs who messed up in ordering these. I've talked to others and they said they really liked these boots, and like I said I think they look great, but for $400 it just feels like a NFL field-goal kicker practiced on us. Thanks, Will Scott TK2693 Alaska Outpost
cricket71
Hate to hear about this Bro. Yeah, I would have told you not to go the route of the CA boots and done the tutorial first. Although I didn't think CA boots costed that much When I fisrt started I looked at CA boots and they ran around $125 but they looked like rain boots
TK-2693
They are really good quality and do look great and are sturdy, being made out of real leather, but they are really just custom made cowboy boots. We're going to make them work it's just a bit more expensive then either of us would have liked (more him then me since I'm not paying for them, ha, but truely I feel his pain). Dart
Out of curiosity, are there no cobblers/shoe repair joints near you? Maybe it'd be cheaper to have the CA boots fixed locally.
TK-2693
Yea, no more shops up here in Fairbanks. They took off or went under as soon as I decided I needed custom made 16" tanker boots remade. There might be one in Anchorage but that is several hundred miles away. I'll have to check for future referance (I shipped the CA boots after work today).
