Drakon Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Hello Scouts, Has anybody made a scout sniper rifle before and if so would you mind posting pictures of it? I am thinking about building one off of the SS piece that was just released. Thanks ahead of time!!!
Prophet106 Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Not that there is technically such thing as a scout sniper rifle http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=7119
Witness Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 The scout sniper rifle first came from the Battlefield series of video games. The rifle in the game was a combination of MG-34 and MG-42 with a sniper scope on it. For 501st purposes, the sniper rifle is not acceptable in the standard CRL for canon trooping events. It can however, as well as the carbine and other weapons, be used for non canon events. Your best bet is to look up info for a DLT-19.
Cyber Scout Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I use a moded E-11 blaster, and it is very light works for me graet 1
Arch27 Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 I use a moded E-11 blaster, and it is very light That's a great idea! I'm thinking of using that but adding on the MG42 stock...
Sandeman Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 Far from accurate, but cheap and extremely light. I'm currently adding a detachable scope (magnetic), as well as numerous tweeks. http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=6930
Guest Lonewolves85 Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 I have seen "lone Wolf" make a cracking scout sniper!
Daetrin Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Are there any better pictures of what is seen in the game, e.g. screen caps, dimensions, etc.? You have to admit this is pretty cool. (a scout sniper taking aim at C5)
Cyber Scout Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 Hello just found these for you, alot of people are using the butt off the MG42, but if you look the B.F. Rifle it is a small triangle shape (may just the programers saving time) as i had a short amount of time to do mine i made the "L" shape butt. i will change mine before my next troop, If you look at the guy on the balconey at C.V. his like Lonewolf's and my own are modded E-11's i think thay make a graet starting block as you are still keeping with the S.W. style and heritage Me at my last troop and here's somting i found that might help 1
Sandeman Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 As Witness pointed out, the rifle in Battlefront looks like it was modeled after the MG-42, the successor to the venerable MG-34: Behold: MG-42 The RPF has some pretty good information concerning MG-34's and MG-42's in the SW universe, as well as the FISD. The MG-34 is far easier to come across in replica form, but I should think the MG-42 would be easy enough to scratch build.
Guest carves Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 If you noticed, the barrel is definately a hybrid from MG-42 and MG-34. The muzzle break is closer to MG-34 design then the MG-42. The body of the gun, my eyes tells me that it looks like the body of the MG-42 turned upside down. The butt piece, well, can be from the 42 or the 34. The scope I have no clue, I think it can be anything as long as it is close. Wierd eh ?
Guest Raifer Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 As it happens... and to re-kick-start this thread... I have a Cushman DLT on the way and a set of scout armor also soon to arrive and a scout sniper is what Im thinking! My commando is a cool costume but a cannon white scout has always been my first love! When the cushy arrives I plan on doing a series of mods to it coupled with a series of threads here abouts to show the conversion through its various stages... so stay tuned folks!!! My plan is to take the soft molded cushman and take it appart, re-set the pieces and using a lot of plasti-card and putty tighten up all the edges, set screws and switches using steel parts and mount a sure-fire scope with a laser designator. I did a very similer mod to an cheap airsoft AR15 to make up a ROTJ reb. commando rifle. I know its not film cannon for the scout... but the DLT19 is a Sandies 2nd rifle after the venerable DLT21 lewis gun and thus Im not worried tooooo much abour growls from my garrison carrying the sucker as a white scout.
Daetrin Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 The Battlefront game identifies this as a Republic DC-15x Sniper Rifle.
Guest Raifer Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 The Gun is def a DLT derivative... Its close enough to the 19 series to make little diffr. The scope might be the tricky part. Im thinking a 4x32 air rifle scope with a shroud over the front lense cover and a rounded glass/rubber lense. a single piece mount ought to complete that part of the wep.
yodaawilson Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 I use a moded E-11 blaster, and it is very light works for me graet That's a great idea! I'm thinking of using that but adding on the MG42 stock... how did you modify the e-11. ie what parts (lowes/pvc?) did you add to make it a sniper rifle. thanks
StuntManMike Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Here is one I made for non 501st events. Again canon scouts do not carry rifles, only hold out blasters. Just thought I would mention that again since I see that questios pop up alot from new people. Anyways here's my scratch build MG-15, can be made from $50-$75 depending on whats parts you want to use. Pretty light too.
Guest slave1pilot Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 I did one of these a while ago with an MG-42 http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?show...;hl=battlefront The battlefront Blaster Here's mine It's an MG-42 with a Schmidt Bender scope I added various Star Wars greeblies including the Hengstler cuz i'm a geek Before you ask, it was sold earlier this year.
Guest Krazy Ivan Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 This is one i have been working on and by no means is it accurate. http://i664.photobucket.com/albums/vv1/Aus...icture222-1.jpg
PanzerKraken Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 The MG34 style of sniper rifle is being used again by all the scout troopers in the Force Unleashed 2 game. Quite a lot of them in the game.

The barrel is way different than the mg42, there is no belt feed cocking mechanism on the right side, and the stock isn't dark enough. Also the front sights are way different, the iron sights are way different as well because the mg42 has a standard iron sight whereas the mg34 has a hopup system on the sight where you can adapt to many ranges and elevations. Looking at it from the game and wiki files, it is just an mg34 with the iron sights removed and replaced with a standard sniper scope. I'd say if you are going to make a rifle use the mg34. The barrel design fits a rifle alot better than the mg42. The mg42 as a rifle would just look silly lol.
