Marauder
I found a bucket on Flea-bay buy the seller CB as well as some soft parts.. I was considering purchasing from him.. Anyone buy from this guy? Pat Hi Pat, I would highly recommend perusing the various threads here on BikerScout.net (BSN) before making any purchase. There are metric tonnes of information available. Contact Bluecyclone, our detachment armorer. He can get you started on some of the ins and outs of the Biker Scout costumes. I can distill some of the wisdom into just a few points: 1) Do your homework! A few hours spent perusing the boards can save a lot of frustration (and $$$) further down the line. 2) Stay away from auction sites. In general the product quality is less than stellar, the customer service can be questionable, and you can never really be sure the seller you're working with may be an alias for another maker with a poor reputation. Some quality items can be found on the Bay... but they are relatively few and far between. At a minimum, exercise extreme caution! 3) When assembling your costume, take your time! "Measure twice, cut once"... an excellent slogan no matter what you are putting together. 4) Don't forget to have fun! And yes, I'm aware I didn't actually answer your question. :-P Thanks, ~~Paul
BlackDOG
On occasion, folks who were or are members or who were planning on being members will sell their armor on ebay...... BUT generally, they try to sell it here or on the 501st board, first. Ebay is a sketchy proposition in general for armor and the like. I have had decent luck with commercially made products like hiking gear. But for costuming stuff, I would steer clear. Usually, the cost will be higher and many times the quality will be lower. Follow the advice given above...... I can't speak about that seller specifically.,,,I don't have any experience, but you will have better luck on this board. Witness
I found a bucket on Ebay buy the seller Cucblack as well as some soft parts.. I was considering purchasing from him.. Anyone buy from this guy? Pat The helmet in question is not accurate as it stands and is made of fiberglass so modification to it is impossible. The shape of the faceplate is incorrect and the helmet is too large. I would not recommend it, and you would be better off with MLC (also fiberglass) or KS (PVC). The soft parts are also somewhat innacurate. Please send a PM to blucyclone for information about where to purchase armor and helmets and other supplies. You will also find threads in the Trade Forum from people selling soft components, and you can bet if they have a thread there, that their parts are accurate and of good quality. It is always best to avoid eBay unless someone points you there. BSN is the best place on the internet to get information about Biker Scout costumes and parts, you would be best advised to take the advice of people here instead of going off to eBay to try and save a few dollars. The costuming hobby is not a cheap or quick fix one. Chances are, if it's cheap or easy to get, it's likely not of high quality. Bluecyclone will have all the information you seek, as well as a quick browse about the Trade Forum and the armor archives. We're currently working on new armor references. Good luck! Too Much Garlic
The guy is a member here. And he's refining his masters. Most fan made helmets are too small compared to the original, since they are derived from the Don Post helmet that was undersized. Personally I wouldn't go for a KS. Even though it is made from ABS, the construction is just wrong. I particularly don't like the gap between the back plate and the crown.
Cyber Scout
And i would not go for the mlc 3 the visor is still two sqare, the face plate and visor are molded as one peice and the eyes seem to close together
Chex
Just reading this, you guys are killing me lol. Get this, don't get this. You're going to confuse the guy. I was going to go for the MLC v3 as I had heard it was the most accurate of the fan made buckets. I know KS needs some modding. So what's better, the MLC v2? Help us newbs out lol
Cyber Scout
Yes the K.S. Needs some mods but so dose the MLC. it is not the most accuate bucket, if you ask most Scouts who have done this for a while most would go for a Alt$*mans but as thay are so hard to get now we have the two to chose from out of the two the K.S. look on the lines of the Alt%+mans, and as for the line on the back of the K.S. if it's made well from a kit you will not have that prob
Witness
The gap on the back of the KS can be fixed. Two scouts here have shown how, me being one of them. And yes, I agree the KS needs some work to be a better helmet. It is plenty large. The MLC is a great looking helmet but the face is a bit square. The Altmann's has a snout that is too flat and needs to stick out more. Rubies is very difficult unless you want to spend a lot of time working on it. I say all this as someone who has examined all frour types of helmets and made comparisons. I'm still no expert. I hope to ave my hands on a newly designed SC helmet in the next few months. It look spromising if the details can be improved and the seams fixed a bit to make it a viable bucket for new costumers. In the end, it's a matter of personal opinion and taste, some people swera by MLC, some by KS and some by Altmanns. Realistically I don't believe any off them is right enough to be considered the best.
