Yorkie Fett Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I'm putting my SC armour together and am about to attach the tank top to the hump. Question is, should the rivet be centred (i.e. equal distance from each side). If it is, this puts the tank top slightly off centre. Alternatively, if I have the tank top centralised, then the rivet is off centre (hope this all makes sense!!). I've looked at screen used pictures, but they all seem to be taken at an angle, so it's hard to make out.
Witness Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 There should be one rivet on top and one rivet on bottom. The bottom rivet should be centralized neat the bottom center of the tank, right through the tank into the backplate. The top rivet is a little more difficult. On the SC armor, there is nothing pre setup for attaching the rivet in it's proper place which is through the topper greeble. I posted a solution in this thread. Something similar or epoxy on the top will be required to complete the SC armor as shown in my photo. For Lancer specs, you can only have the one rivet through the greeble, for regular Pathfinder status and 501st admittance, you can use the rivet through the top edge of the tank into the backplate as shown in the SC instructions. This however leaves two rivets on the top of the tank which is not seen in the film.
Yorkie Fett Posted August 15, 2010 Author Posted August 15, 2010 Thanks Witness. I'm familiar with the rivet set up from the real biker pictures floating around. I've actually glued the tank to the back armour using epoxy (there's enough of a step to allow this, plus an extra L bracket). I've then put in fake rivets (the rivets are actually in the right place, but not holding anything together- the attachment is purely through epoxy). I need to know whether the rivet on the tank top is central to the back armour (meaning the actual top piece will look off centre). Looking at your tank, you seem to have the top rivet so it is exactly in the middle of the armour (i.e. equal distance from either sides of the back armour).
Guest carves Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Yup, that is some info you got there Dave. Very usefull since I'm gonna get an SC armor soon. My 1st Gen SC is about to be retired.

Yorkie Fett Posted August 15, 2010 Author Posted August 15, 2010 Thanks again, Witness. That's exactly what I needed to know. There seems to be a lack of pictures looking directly down on the tank top. They always seem to be at an angle. I'm really looking to get this gear as screen accurate as possible, so this has been useful information.
THAWK819 Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I just ordered SC Armor myself and I'm hoping to go for Pathfinder and Lancer right from the get-go. Do you think the lip that sticks out from the back armor to mount the bullet tank sticks out enough that E6000 would work to hold it on? I used E6000 in quite a few spots for my TK build and I'm wondering if it would work for this as I imagine it's a lot easier than working with epoxy. I've also never even seen a heat gun, let alone used one to reshape plastics, lol. If the E6000 works then I could just add a decorative, functionless rivet to the top to satisfy the Lancer requirement.
