4505Marcel
I wouldnt get the pouches made 5x5 they really want to be rectangular rather than square
Sierra Trees
I found a tailor who saved me. She reduced them to 5x2x6 and they look great. She also took the cumberbund in for me. I still need to attach the pouches, but hopefully I'll be close to complete this weekend and show some new pics. I won;t have the pinstripes done yet, though. Everyone has been kick-ass helpful. I really appreciate it!
Sierra Trees
OK here are some new pictures. I still need: pinstripes raise the hip pieces balaklava boot holster Let me know if I am forgetting anything! In this pic you can see the reduced size of the pouches and the cumberbund fits now. I went with pouches that are now 6x5x2 and have the foam inside them. They are only pinned on right now because I want to see if they are placed properly. In this pic you can see the side profile and yeah my forearm piece needs to come up and go over the glove. I am fashioning a strap to keep the arm pieces in order. One thing that concerns me and I do not know how to avoid is that the back piece is heavier than the chest piece and as a result it tends to make the armour pull up in the front. Does anyone know how to make it behave and stay parallel to the horizon? This pic is to show the thermal detonator. It is only precariously attached by velco now, but I can make it more permanent. I wanted to see if the greeblies I attached are placed properly and a good size. Thanks for your help everyone. I can see the end upon me soon. I should be ready for CV! Acrylikhan
WOW! What a difference! Looking good! I do not see anything in the standards that say the knob has to be on one side or the other. So I think your detonator greebs are okay. The greeb size is good.

Makes me shed a tear to see GnomeScout nearly there Your TD greebles are in the same config as mine (and the same as everyone else I've seen) so I think you're good. Keeping the chestplate down can be done with velcro I'm told... (and I have the same problem, but have yet to fix it)

Prophet106
Remember to paint in the little rectangle (grey) on the chest-plate
Sierra Trees
I totally missed that grey stripe, Prophet, thank you for pointing it out. I was looking through Darren's link to his photos and can see the stripe rather clearly: http://s671.photobucket.com/albums/vv71/Da...ent=MyTB008.jpg what length and width is that? Should I make it a decal instead of painting it? The costume standards say the stripe in on the left chest, but in Darren's photo above it in on the right chest. Can someone clarify for me, please? I noticed that Darren's helm has pinstripes on the forehead as well - do I need those? http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv71/Da...t/TB7837001.jpg Am I correct in that the pinstriping that runs the width of the pack is 1/8" and the pinstriping to the left of the tank is 1/4"? How far apart are the rank stripes and what length are they? Additionally I see the red stripe and metal button on his backpack - I missed that stuff on my costume too: http://s671.photobucket.com/albums/vv71/Da...t=TB7837053.jpg
Arch27
The grey rectangle - It goes inside that indented part on your right side of the chest. It's on the an observer's left but still your right side. Yes you'll want to add the three stripes on the brow above the lens. Also I can't tell from those pics but do you have the 'fish hook' on the left side of the visor? The red stripe on the tank is on the top edge of that fin that sticks up. The "metal button" should be the rivet that holds your tank on to your backplate.
Sierra Trees
This might be my last post in this thread Do you guys think I'm ready to apply to the legion? Let me know what you think!
Acrylikhan
Are you going to get a balacava or a dickie to cover your neck? Other than that, You look great! I think you should get approval without a problem! Great job!!
Sierra Trees
Oops, here's a photo from today with the neck piece. Wish me luck, everyone

Witness
Looking great! I can't believe you managed to get the holster onto those boots. You may want to try and curve the front of the holster backplate a bit to make it conform more to the boot shape, it seems to be pulling a bit. loosetoon
WOW! Great job! I've been lax in following your build on this thread and I must say, everyone did a fantastic job. All the comments were spot on, and you did wonderfully following through on the suggested changes. If I may, I'd like to add my 2 cents (late in the game, I know) on a just some minor things I think you can do. First is the pin stripping on the tank. Your lines are a tad wonky. The vertical lines on the sides should be just that, vertical... straight up and down. Yours look a bit crooked. And they should fall on the sides of the tank more. And the horizontal line on top could stand to be a bit higher. Also I see you only gave yourself one rank stripe. Come on now! You've earned it... add a few more stripes! Typically 3 to 6 stripes is the norm. (I gave you 6!) Second is the tube of your thermal detonator should be painted gray. I don't think either of these things will affect your approval... they might depending on your GML, but I would suggest doing them anyway. Congrats on a fantastic build. you should be proud! Prophet106
From one novice to another (firstly it looks ace) A couple of things i noticed. The armour on the arms (shoulders/biceps/forearms), i know you had to cut down the shoulder-bells but did you trim down the biceps and forearms too ? I only ask as in a couple of the pictures the biceps look as big as the shoulders and the forearms seem quite long ? If it were me i would be tempted to trim them down too, assuming you have not already done so. Also the strapping on the leg boxes. It looks at a glance like 1" webbing, if it is it should be 1.5" (38mm). I only notice because i had it pointed out to me too
Cyber Scout
Very BIG well done you have done so well from were you started with that big bund and pouchies in just a short time and being a wee scout the armour has modded nice,i see alot of people on here who don't bother doing any shaping to there armour to make it more accuate you can tell mostly on S.C. sholder bells (sorry Jeff )but anyway you've done good just take notice of Steves (losetune) last post thats the things i could see but no biggy
Sierra Trees
Thank you everyone for the wonderful advice and support. I had a great time working on this costume. I had a lot of help from my husband and it was nice to have a project like this to work on together. I'm considering replacing the chest and back pieces (someday) as they seem really wide for me, but they are fine for now. I will take Steve's advice and fix my pin-striping. I was going to put one stripe for Celebration V and then add new stripes for any other conventions I attend up to 6 eventually. The red marks were really useful for me, thanks! Oops! I didn't notice that the dets were supposed to be grey. That is a quick fix, I'll get right on that. What does GML stand for? James, you are right about the webbing, I need to replace that and will do so before my next event. I will trim down the arm pieces a bit more, too based on your advice. They were only trimmed a small amount.
Witness
What does GML stand for? Garrison Membership Liaison. It is the person in your local Garrison you will apply to.
Sierra Trees
Oh! Ok, I have heard from him already and also saw him in Florida where he inspected my armor in person. Soon as he gets back to Canada I should hear from him about my application
Prophet106
Yea you know dont take my word literally as im a newbie too . Its mainly the biceps in this picture - They look almost bigger than the shoulders. If it was me i would probably trim them down an inch or so . . . Id also maybe put a bit of padding under the shoulder-bells too to make them a bit more sticky-outy Id possibly slacken off the crotch strap a little too
Sierra Trees
You're right, the crotch was driving me nuts. I saw plenty of scouts at the convention, but none of them had that problem. I think I have to replace it/make it longer to give me some more room. I was trying to solve that issue in my head and thought I'd have to reinforce it with some wire or something. Now that you mention it the biceps do look as big as the shoulders. How would I go about making the shoulders stand out more? Glue foam to them or something like that?
Arch27
You could either curve the biceps a bit more or tighten the straps to make them appear a bit smaller as well. That'd keep them from sticking out at odd angles. But overall I think you look awesome. I'm getting a bit jealous of our Gnome
