Hey everyone, I am looking for advice on scout armor. Initially I wanted to do stormtrooper but I am 5'4 and 140Ibs, very small build. I haven't really made up my mind yet but it is between the 2.

I am wondering what you think I should do? I do not want to pay all that money for armor and look silly.

What armor is there available, and helmets? I am not a fan of the don post/rubies.

Is it possible to get the soft parts tailor made?

Thanks very much :)

Hey there! We're about the same size! I'm 5'4" and 141lbs! I found scout armor by using the power of Google. Jedi Jennie has a great tutorial on fitting armor to a small frame and helped me alot. The boots I made using a tutorial here and same with the cumberbund. Someone was nice enough to send me a pattern, and I sewed it myself. I just finished a much better one a few months ago (when you think you're down, you're never done). I also just finished my new ABS bucket (my original one was Rubie's. PM me if you need any help!

PM sent :)

I got some prices regarding armor and was wondering how this sounds.

KS armor and helmet?

Is there any real huge difference between KS and MC? I think I may need to trim quite a bit off of the armor anyhow?

The KS chest and backplate are VERY wide. If you trim, you will end up having to remove way too much material and it will not maintain it's appearance.

Is it possible to mix and match? MC chest/back with the rest being KS?

Is SC much lower quality than the both above?

Cheers.

You are free to mix/match anything you want, but you will likely find that your costs will be more if you mix and match parts. The KS parts are not as accurate as either the MC or SC. The MC is more than likely the most accurate (sorry Jeff). In terms of quality of the parts, MS and SC are similar, it's just that they are slightly different. MC's knees and shoulder bells are more accurate. MCs backplate and tank have cleaner lines. I find the SC armor to be more than adequate. You will find contact with SC to be easy and shipment will be quicker than MC. I would suggest you avoid the KS body armor. They make an excellent helmet (when it's assembled properly), but their body armor is not accurate. Being a smaller person, you are going to need to work on trimming down a lot of the armor.

I'll pipe in and say that from what I've seen the "when it's assembled properly" part is spot on. It seems that your chance of getting a flawless item is difficult. I've read a lot of posts complaining about various aspects from warped pieces to bad seams - even on the fully assembled helms.

If you can afford it, go for the MLC helmet/MC armor.

Its just a cryin' shame that I'm going to trim a lot of it away, though I should still look like an "almost" screen accurate (what I want to do) scout trooper.

The one concern I have about the SC armor and height challenged females, is the width of the chest plate. The female rib cage generally is slimmer than the male rib cage and a few women in the past have mentioned that they had to trim a lot of the SC chest and back on the sides of the armor, to get it to not be flared out so much.

I believe Jedijennie went with the Glover/Casters Armor because of this, correct?

I'm 5'3" and looking for Scout Armor. The Glover/Caster armor was recommended to me, but I haven't been able to find any contact information to reach him to place an order. I'm really wanting to have the armor in time for CV. Does anyone know how to reach him?

I decided to go for MC armor i hear its smaller made and the most screen accurate.

Gloves are ordered, doing the boot tutorial.

Anyone know where i can get a flightsuit? I'm looking for one for a 5'3 person that is small framed. I dunno if a youth XL would fit me? I dont want it to be baggy but not skin tight either.

I am only 5'2" and also female. I opted for the custom made racing suits recommended here: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=943

It fits like a dream.

I got my coveralls today but they're baggy in the legs, can the arms be a little bit baggy?

I'd like to take the legs in a little bit, do you have a pattern to do this for sewing? I'd like to add the suede part as well and remove the back pocket and tab on the leg.
