Guest Skupilkinson
Thanks Tom. Yes, I know about the shins but I did them this way to avoid the wide look it would create. To fit the boots inside yet retain a nice shape to the calves and ankles. Not knocking yours mate as they are more accurate but do cause the lower legs to look very wide because of the boothaving to fit inside and allow you to move. It's a slight sacrifice but one I'm happy to make.
LENOX61
Lookin' AWESOME!!! I am also working with an SGB helmet. I like what you did with cutting out those back vents. I agree the decals seem a little glossy. With cutting those vents, it appears so much more real. Your pics just inspired me to cut mine out. Keep up the great work! LENOX61
Thanks mate. I'm just sewing my gloves together now. Question for ya...........What did you use for your visor tint? I have been reading about different things (window screening, tint, motorcycle visors, etc). What material did you use to get the green, reflective look or is that your camera flash on the pics??? Guest Skupilkinson
It's a motocycle visor insert/tint. It's a green chrome finish which is why it's so reflective.
Guest Skupilkinson
Speaking of fiddly jobs, I just finished one off. The gloves! Lots of hand stitching here which is something I'm not too fond of. The base glove was a simple black special forces glove I got off of Ebay. I had to remove some detailing and straps off them. The pads on the backs of the hand were made from scratch using heavy vinyl leather and dyed to the correct colour and weathered slightly. The padding was simple upholstery foam. For the brown gauntlet I used black vinyl leather but hand dyed it with a sponge. Then the hole was cut out so I could sew the rubber greeb into it. Again it's padded with upholstery foam and sewn into the black glove. The wrist band is simply 10mm elastic dyed to a better colour. I had the metal buckle with some thin aluminium bent to shape and wrapped around the elastic to hide the rivets used to join the two ends of the elastic. I've not sewn that band onto the glove, it just sits there. These are much better than my first attempt and closer to the reference I based them on. Anyway, that's about it for those. Oh, I weathered the whole glove after it was put together to make it look a little more muddy. Nothing crazy, just something to break up the black really. Guest Skupilkinson
Thanks Mike. I think my wrist band could do with being a tad wider so I'll be on the look out for that next time I'm in town. That's another reason why it wasn't sewn on. Thanks though buddy, glad you like 'em.
Guest Skupilkinson
Been a wee while for an update on this. With the weather being good I took all the armor outside for a little weathering. I got some flat black, green and brown paints(rattle can). The idea was to tone down that base colour and dirty it up a little more. All I did was mist the paint over the armor and let the breeze do the rest. Not too sure how well these pics show it though? Too sunny. Got the last of my cummerbund(thanks for correcting my spelling Ee ) sewn up yesterday. I may add shoulder straps/braces to it yet to stop it sliding down but we'll see how it goes after I have the pouches done and the velcro sorted. For the black buckles you see, I made them from styrene. I cut it all to shape, then heated the plastic up and bent it around a steel rule. The buckly then just slid over the webbing before being secured in place as I was sewing the webbing onto the 'bund. I also need to add velcro(industrial strength) to attach the rubber belt too which really sets this off. Can't wait to get it all on again to see how it all works(or doesn't maybe? ). It'll get dirtied and weathered too.

Guest Skupilkinson
Ok, got my pouches painted! At first it looked a little too bright and almost cartoony(bold colours), but misting it the same way I did with the armor has toned it right down. I don't think I fully captured the look on the reference but I think they're pretty close? Now to do even MORE sewing on the cummerbund for the velcro to fix the pouches and belt. After that I'll weather the 'bund itself. Then onto doing the drop boxes.
Guest Skupilkinson
It's done!!! I'm really happy with how it turned out. So comfortable to wear compared to my Neyo. It even had a mini troop, I went outside for a smoke and the dog got loose so I needed to go out and get her. LOL! Only 3 people saw me but I got a wee kick out of seeing their faces. LMAO! One thing I've noticed is how this costume makes you look "tubby"? Oh well, I'll live with that! I'm just thrilled to finally join the ranks! I know my knees are missing the grey straps. That's the one thing I really need to sort out. The ones that came with the kit wouldn't wrap round my knees the way I'd have liked them to. Too small. So I'll be PM'ing Tom for a set of his real soon.

Guest Skupilkinson
Well the KT got it's first outing this weekend! HooYah! I couldn't wait to get suited up on the Saturday. The first two issues were spent putting on a show for the public whilst struggling with persistent fogging! We tried three different types of anti-fog methods with little success until it just seemed to stop being a problem? Jo thought it was maybe an acclimatisation thing? Still, with my vision restored it was back to business! The costume fit beautifully with NO issues for the most of the day. No pinching, no nasty armor clanking noises and NO mobility issues with the feet and shin armor. Although I wasn't brave enough to use the stairs and made FULL use of the elevator! LOL! I think the lid needs a little more padding to keep it more stable whilst on and my pouches need some attention. Although most of them held firm, some toward the end of the day fell off and luckily I didn't lose any. I think my body heat had an effect on the velcro adhesive so I'll be redoing the velcro with hot glue next time. Not a big problem at all and one I'm happy to fix! The costume went down well with the public and fellow costumers and I was overjoyed that quite a few folk even knew who I was! With one member of the public even calling me a "KT"! That said I did get a lot of Biker Scout tags too. Oh well, can't win 'em all. LOL! Having traded my DC-15 just the day before I opted to use my newly acquired flamethrower for the day which also went down well with everyone! I know it's not entirely canon and correct but it IS a clone weapon so we went with it just for the day. The long term plan is to use a DC long in future with this gear. It was an awesome weekend! I didn't find any Wookies unfortunately but I did stumble across some Ewoks! I thought it wise to make peace with them. LOL!

Guest Skupilkinson
Morning guys, I heard back from the UKG GML yesterday. My KT hasn't been cleared. I'm looking for opinions from fellow KT's here to offer feedback on my costume as I feel that members here understand this costume better than anyone else. lonewolf
Gutted for you Skip, I really don't think this has anything to do with keeping standards high, your kit is leading the way this side of the world, they will surely see sense soon enough. Guest Skupilkinson
Thanks John. I'm not sure what can be done about it as I feel the points made were unreasonable.
