Guest Skupilkinson
Hey guys, I've been putting some time in, having a look for the info I need to get me started on my own KST. I'm finding most of what I need but I have a question? The cod piece is caovered in fabric. I see it in the ref and I've confirmed it by seeing other peoples work here so I'm cool with that. Now, when I look at some of those awesome ref pics that focus on the cumberbund and pouches, it looks to me like the pouches are also covered in the same fabric as the cod?? I went and checked the CRL's but it doesn't state anything specific about the pouches regarding this? Have any of you guys covered your pouches with matching fabric to the cod? And if so, what fabric did you choose to match the texture seen in the reference pics? I appreciate any help here guys. Thanks.

Lonescout
I know it looks like fabric for the cod piece and I spoken to awesome clone builders that have seen the ref pics it may just be CGI lines as Si-fire has this as hard armor in their build I think is it just hard armor! In the old threads it was considered hard armor painted up.
Guest Skupilkinson
So the majority of folks are just going for plain, painted pouches? No fabric?? 'Cause that texture really looks like it's intended to represent fabric?
Guest Skupilkinson
I'm sorry to double post but I've been looking at some reference I have trying to get a clear idea of what to do with my pouches. I hope no-one thinks I'm trying to rock the boat but to me those pouches are defenitely fabric covered just like the cod. I took some close-ups to illustrate where I'm coming from. If you compare all these pics against that cod you should see that the texture matches! You can even see the little shadows where the light hits those dimples in the fabric?? I'm not trying to force re-writes of the CRL's or anything guys but if I were to cover my pouches in a matching fabric to my cod, Would it go against my application for 501st approval?? I know we all have our own takes on what the KST should look like since the reference is pretty poor, even now. I mean look at the glove debate, brown leather? Or greeble on a padded sleeve? I just want to be sure that anything I do to my kit will be Ok when I apply. please offer opinions guys.
Thumper
Given the reference pics you provided, I would think the pouches aren't supposed to be covered in fabric, I would think they should be made from fabric, specifically a cammo canvas. This would be in line with most military equipment pouches and seems to be what was intended here IMO. I've not read up on the research for this costume so when you say covered, I assume some people are making them out of ABS or other material and giving them a cammo paint scheme. If I were building this costume, I would look at dyeing canvas used to make a military duffel bag or something, and then using the canvas to make the pouches. I know I stated the cod piece didn't...has MB submitted the CRL's for the KST! At this point their is not right or wrong way until the CRL's are set! I think at this point try to do your best and if you want to add the fabric go for it and post your progress! I know we discuss a Lancer type for the KST in older post. Therefore, several parts of the costume may need to be Lancer specific. I know several kst has added fabric and several like myself have purchased German military ammunition pouches and painted them up! Works for me until CRL's are changed. But then again I am the green swamp monster as my base color is different and I overdid my green wash. I don't think cloth or non-cloth is going to make a huge difference at this point! mrbungle
not at this point it does not matter. my pouches on my costume are plastic covered by cloth and painted.
Guest Skupilkinson
I did think of making them just from fabric but the edges are too sharp in the reference so I think a solid pouch covered in a heavy fabric will work. Thanks for the feedback guys, good to know I'm on the right path.
Guest Skupilkinson
Just ordered fresh supplies to get started on my pouches. I'm looking forward to getting underway once more.
