chadD Posted December 18, 2009 Author Posted December 18, 2009 give us a test fit...pics..pics...pics... Very soon......I want to get the belt attached to the cummerbund first And I have one more glove greeblie to attach. Need to pad the helmet too. Then I'll be able to put it on and only be missing the pouches! Realy Nice! WOW! What did you use for the clear coat? Any CV action for us KST who's planning to go! I used Krylon "Matte" clear coat, from Walmart. Quote
mrbungle Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 looking good, but get rid of the shoulder strap. get some cheap kneepads and glue them to the inside of your shoulder armor and velcro in place. Quote
chadD Posted December 21, 2009 Author Posted December 21, 2009 Trust me, I will. There's a knee pad under the shoulder and the strap came attached to it. I just wanted to take a pic and hadn't attached the velcro yet. The strap is getting cut off. Shows up too easily against the undersuit. Quote
mrbungle Posted December 21, 2009 Posted December 21, 2009 i hate people that are taller than me. the armor looks better on them than the guy that sculpt it. the shins look great on you, but look huge on me..........damn tall people..........LOL the cumberbund looks like it fits pretty good. keep up the great work. chadD Posted December 23, 2009 Author Posted December 23, 2009 i hate people that are taller than me. the armor looks better on them than the guy that sculpt it. the shins look great on you, but look huge on me..........damn tall people..........LOL the cumberbund looks like it fits pretty good. keep up the great work. Thanks dudes. I always thought yours looked awesome! You're too critical! The cummerbund does fit really good! Nicely made. I got the belt attached today. Now all I have to do is wait on the pouches. I need to figure out how I'm going to sew the crotch saddle material and move the pockets on the pants. That's the next big step then I should be close to done. Quote
chadD Posted January 31, 2010 Author Posted January 31, 2010 I got my boxes and started working on them. Quote
Guest Skupilkinson Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Great stuff! I'm making my own, I wanted to have a few that are functional. Looking forward to more progress. Quote
mrbungle Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 awesome!! i forgot how good your KT was looking! awesome work!! you are making the rest of the KT's proud! Quote
chadD Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 The base coat is down after many days of bondo and primer. Now Just waiting for it to cure and I'll put the camo down. Then attach them. I really like these boxes. Very light. Is the one that I circled supposed to be used somewhere? He said he included a couple extra in the shipment to use for practice. Not sure if this is them. Quote
Guest Skupilkinson Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 You should have 2 of those. A left and right one. Quote
Strofmos Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 You should have 2 of those. A left and right one. Yep, and there are 4 in the kit; 2 left + 2 right these are the boxes meant for "trial and error" on bondo-ing, painting, etc.. Quote
chadD Posted February 18, 2010 Author Posted February 18, 2010 Awesome. Thanks for the info! I fallowed your instructions that you put in the box and they came out great. I used Mineral Spirits to clean off the mold release. Used Bondo spot filler to fill the air bubbles. Quote
Acrylikhan Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 You've made enormous progress! Looking good! Quote
chadD Posted February 20, 2010 Author Posted February 20, 2010 Thanks! I worked on them last night and tonight for a couple hours. Here's the results. Quote
Guest Skupilkinson Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Sweet! Those pouches are looking great! Quote
mrbungle Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 looking really good. one thing you might try is to spray paint your belt with a grey primer. that is what did on mine and the paint still has not cracked off, the rubber i use seems to turn green with light exposer unless you make them black. good work , though. Quote
chadD Posted February 21, 2010 Author Posted February 21, 2010 You know what, I was thinking it was supposed to be green. I over looked that detail. Now that you say that, I see in the reference pictures that it is gray. After I fix the belt color, attach the pouches, and weather the cummerbund, I just have the riding patch (crotch area material) and thigh pockets to do. Then it's done! I think the sewing of the pockets and riding patch is going to be a pain. Quote
Guest Skupilkinson Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 I'm with you there. I keep putting off my patches as I think they'll need to be sewn on by hand. Not difficult as such but a pain to do. Quote
Grumpy Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 I think the sewing of the pockets and riding patch is going to be a pain. It is!!! I had to sew the thigh pockets and the riding patch on by hand. It will drive you nuts. I did the riding patch with one piece of grey suede leather. Take your time. Have lots of patience. By the way, your paint job looks great. Quote
Lonescout Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Great Job chadD! If you know someone who can sew with a machine ....have them do it! Although it could be done by hand just have patience! Quote
chadD Posted March 2, 2010 Author Posted March 2, 2010 Oh no. Looks like I'm in a bit of a dilemma. Quote
