Heatshock Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 can any1 tell I am excited abt new armour coming out now Mr Bungle has got himself a nice set of GBX2 - which every1 knows is hard to find. I have stumbled across these that look the biz : they arent cheap though - coming in at abt $100, which tbh, the 2nd hand market for GBXs is abt $80, isnt that bad. they are the Ridge Air-Tac boots - and its the original design (which the police still use), not the new ones which look like this: ok kashyyyyk troopers - DISCUSS! Nate

Nate I think they are ok to start not 100% but if you do to TDH you will see guys who laid out big and got nothing so far not even good updates. There people tryong to get something going with one of the known boot makers that may turn into something. I will kep you guys informed of what I hear. Email me good boot pics that can be sent to the boot makers just in case. chl@gate.net
Heatshock Posted April 4, 2009 Author Posted April 4, 2009 ok still on the look out for some nice options for these boots - how about these boys? Nate
mrbungle Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 the ones at the bottom arn't bad. but the ones you first posted are pretty good.
K'raam Xrati Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 how about these boys? Yes, how about them? Those would be awesome for custom Mandalorians. What brand are they?
Heatshock Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 I mut admit - I went for a set of the tan ones. its a locl brand I think, its one of the'industrial' use type used by various workmen in this country - brand on the box is groundwork? the shop I got it from is goign out of business - they cost £25 at the moment; thats abt $37 a pair? Nate
Guest Skupilkinson Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Nate, which tan ones did you get bro?? The Hi-Tec or the other ones?? I'm now on the look out for KT boots as you know.
Heatshock Posted July 4, 2009 Author Posted July 4, 2009 the ones in post 5 mate not the most accurate, but cheap
Heatshock Posted July 17, 2009 Author Posted July 17, 2009 oooo lookie wot I found!! heres the UK based website - its called the PT05 Police Tactical Waterproof, mid way down the page - check out the 3D view of the boot and the SOLE! http://www.gladstoneboots.com/acatalog/Thr...ngth_Boots.html
mrbungle Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 those don't look to bad , nate i wish they had a side view.
Heatshock Posted July 17, 2009 Author Posted July 17, 2009 try this link guys - same shoe - but you can rotate it and zoom up to it too http://www.panoramic-imaging.com/view_obje...e=ffHWbnhHYJVig
mrbungle Posted July 17, 2009 Posted July 17, 2009 vey cool. those are the closest looking boot i have seen lately. i would take a blet sander or dermal tool and grind down the ridges in the arch.
Heatshock Posted August 14, 2009 Author Posted August 14, 2009 right guys - got a close up shots of the sole of this boot! http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33092
Guest Skupilkinson Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Hey Nate, are you any closer to finding a suitable and affordable boot over here?
Guest Skupilkinson Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Anybody mind if I post my ideas for a boot?? I started looking at military and police boots but then I looked down at a pair of snow boots I have here for my custom Mando gear. The tread has the larger cut out and aggressive tread. I think with some mods it can serve as a more affordable we can use?? The boot and shin/calf armor will hide most of the boot itself anyway right? I plan on using a hot wire cutter and my rotary tool to modify the soles and get rid of some of the un-needed details. What do you guys think?? I'll post some pics of a few designs I found on flea bay lastnight. This is the boot I already have: These are others I found: The insulation layer can be removed from the ankle up by cutting it out or some are removeable? Making it easier to fit the upper boot inside the armor? The prices average out at around £30.00 shipped in the UK. Thoughts??
Acrylikhan Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 Don't get rid of TOO much material. The arch on the on the Kashyyyk Trooper boot are very unrealistic, IMO. Some of these boots aren't cheap, either, but that's my $1.89+tax on the subject. I do like the EvenTex Boot, and the very last one! If it comes in desert camo, or coyote tan/sand, it would be a great fit! Do you think they would carry a US size 13-14? (not sure on the Europe scale conversion!) Me and my HUGE feet, alwys creating problems.
Guest Skupilkinson Posted December 12, 2009 Posted December 12, 2009 I think with those boots I pictured you'd only need a little shaping more than serious removal of material? Most of thos boots are around 30pounds delivered within the UK(where I am) with boot number one(the pair I own) being 45pounds. So maybe between $60-$90?? Most of them are just plain black. Those with colour options are mainly just for the uppers, the soles most usually always black so we're still needing to paint them. The frustrating thing is the kids snow boots come in more colours and I saw plenty with the tan/sand coloured sole. They just wouldn't fit any of us of course. A US13-14 is around a UK12 so you should easily be able to get some in that size?
Guest Skupilkinson Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 No-one else have any feedback on the boots I posted? You guys who already have armor(I'll be getting MrBungle), do you think the boot upper would pose a problem with the shin/calf armor??
Guest Skupilkinson Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Ok, I decided against the snow boot idea I had. The main boot on those is very wellie/wellington like meaning they're a little bulky. Also, I wanted to find a boot that would mean fewer mods. As I'm trying to stay close to Nate/Heatshock so we're both fairly uniform, I tried to find a boot that matched his. I looked at desert combat boots but the sole on them is fairly flat and doesn't allow the tread to be modified as much as I'd like. I just think that a boot with a fairly good colour match is not enough if the sole no where near what we need? This was the boot I went for: It's not bad as it is I think, but I'm thinking of modding the sole to get it closer to the Pit Crew sole. When these arrive I'll have a better idea of what I can do to them. I may not be able to cut as much of the sole out as my concept pic shows but I'll at least be able to make that tread more aggessive and give that arch more depth and defenition. I'm still gonna need to paint the boots, but I'm hoping that the boot/shoe spray dyes will work. Maybe a couple of coats of white with a layer or to of "bone" over that will do the trick? I'll find out soon enough. The brand I'm looking at is "Magixx", at least I think it's spelt that way? Feedback anyone?? What do you think guys?
