mrbungle
here is the boot armor so far. real tricky to get the right look. they will be vacformed. so should be able to cut to fit.
mrbungle
here is the belt, cod and belt buckle make up. i plan to make the belt out of rubber. the cod and buckle will be made of abs. i left a flap at the top of the belt so you can glue the belt flap to the inside of the cummerbund. i will leave a flap at the top of the cod piece so the belt, cod and cummerbund are all connected so they don't shift around when you wear the costume. here are the shins cut in half for the vactable. they are almost done just got to do some fine tuning to the centers of the shins and fill some small spots. Heatshock
wow - I am liking the belt/buckle piece that link I sent u shows how one guy did his GM shins with holes cut just lateral to the front raised bit - is that how u are going to go for strappin the shins in too? Lonescout
i left a flap at the top of the belt so you can glue the belt flap to the inside of the cummerbund. Tom, would you consider making a belt without the belt flap, or since it's rubber cut it off. I only ask this because I would not want to glue it to the cummerbund since it would need to be washed once in a while. I would use snaps. This is what I did to my wanna-b belt. Although, your belt is a whole lot nicer! I glued one part of the snap to the belt and attached the other part of the snap to the cummerbund. I did this near the bottom edge of the cummerbund. Just a thought!....SO! When can I get one!
mrbungle
thanks for the comments guys! the snaps are a good idea. you could just snap the flap and cumberbund together. i don't know when the belts will be ready , i have to finish the buckle and cod peice and make it work together before i can mold the belt. mrbungle
Tom What did you used for the visor for your helment? Joe Ghost8886 i used some mirror green window tint supported by plexiglass. the tint starts out mirror green at the top and gets darker towards the bottom. you can only use the top 6 inches of the roll for the lens. mrbungle
no real update, just converting all the armor over for vactable plugs. almost finished with my vactable. i hope to start producing armor by the end of april!!!!!!!! yay for me!!!!! i will post pics after i have all the armor plugs done. i need to know what you guys think about what to form them out of. hips abs .090 or .125 on the thickness of the plastic. my vote is hips , but you will have to lightly sand it before you paint and you get better detail, abs you do not. Peregrinus
Can you get samples or single sheets of both HIPS and ABS of varying thicknesses to do some test pulls? See what works best? Have you done the "taller person" sized pieces yet? Or is that further down the road? Because I absolutely want a set of those calves. --Jonah
