Acrylikhan
Everyone involved with making there own set of Kashyyyk Scout Troopers time for a discussion! I may have gotten a nibble from one of my leads searching for a glove maker. But there are some questions I want to have the masses answer before I arrange any meetings. 1. Do we need custom forearm lengths for the gloves? The gauntlet looks like it goes up about half way up the forearm. Is this something we should consider being variable, or should we have a standard length? 2. Materials - I don't think there is a need to make the gloves out of top shelf materials to keep the costs down. But I would like to keep it leather. What do you guys think? 3. What price range would you think is fair? 4. How many people are interested in a pair and what size do you take in a glove? (EDITED)
Lonescout
1. Do we need custom forearm lengths for the gloves? The gauntlet looks like it goes up about half way up the forearm. Is this something we should consider being variable, or should we have a standard length? Yes, some one with a small frame like myself would need to be customized. My Scout glove is a medium and the end of the glove is at my arms midpoint! 2. Materials - I don't think there is a need to make the gloves out of top shelf materials to keep the costs down. But I would like to keep it leather. What do you guys think? Leather is the way to go I agree 3. What price range would you think is fair? Not Sure! but to throw a cost out there, I think a go price $75-$90 depending on the labor, supplies, and leather cost. 4. How many people are interested in a pair and what size do you take in a glove? I may have a problem with shipping these out of the U.S. due to new Customs regulations. You know I am! What do you guys think? leather would be nice, but i am not that picky, 3. What price range would you think is fair? free!!!! just kidding , i don't know. i would try to keep it below the 200 dollar mark ,if not the 150 dollar mark. 4. How many people are interested in a pair and what size do you take in a glove? I may have a problem with shipping these out of the U.S. due to new Customs regulations. i am very interested. i have no idea what my glove size is, i guess a large. Guest Masterson
1. Do we need custom forearm lengths for the gloves? The gauntlet looks like it goes up about half way up the forearm. Is this something we should consider being variable, or should we have a standard length? Like any good glove, the size (s,m,l,xl) should also detemine its length. I doubt each glove would need to be custom fitted though. 2. Materials - I don't think there is a need to make the gloves out of top shelf materials to keep the costs down. But I would like to keep it leather. What do you guys think? Leather, or at least a VERY close substitute. 3. What price range would you think is fair? I'd like to see them 50-100, but if the craftsmanship is good enough, I might stretch t 150$. Doubt I would pay more than that for just the gloves. 4. How many people are interested in a pair and what size do you take in a glove? I may have a problem with shipping these out of the U.S. due to new Customs regulations. Interested, but I'd have to see them first. I also am talking with a leather worker in my garrison who "may" be able to help, but no solid lead yet. I wear a medium in scout glove. Heatshock
1. I'd go with Tom suggestion, kinda 2 lengths, short and long 2. not bothered, atlhough top shelf might make overall cost lower and more amenable to more troopers 3. I too am thinkng of a $50-$100 range 4. customs regulations - dammit? even to UK? would material be the factor or the fact there are greeb's on it? If its a question of leather - then I refer the honourable gentlemen to the answer I gave in no.2. The other issue is... for non-US troopers, is there a standard glove sizing you use? I recently got a US biker glove sized M that fit perfectly, although I usually wear a L in UK cheers Frank Nate

They were all confiscated, and I had to refund everyone their money. I'm wondering why plastic parts were confiscated. I'll keep you on the list. - frank

Is there anything specific that you put on the declaration, or have to put on the declaration? I never have a problem here, it seems that that it gets get over seas, problems pop up. Even stuff I send my relatives in Ireland and in England have problems occasionally. It makes me upset. - Updater - One of the glove makers I sent a request to will not be making the gloves for legal reasons. Strike One. 1 down, 2 to go. Heatshock
things seem a lot worse recently. I've had 2 shipments go missing recently. most times, I have asked makers to mark it as Star Wars toy or just toy. recently had a biker lid and some gloves imported from canada. Took abt 3 months, but it finally arrived w/o incident. legal reasons? damn, wot if we simplify the glove even more and then add stuff to it? Acrylikhan
Well Nate, I think I'll just cross my fingers when I mail stuff to you. I guess that's all I really can do. I usually label my stuff "Prototype Parts" so that it looks like commerical items. I mean really, who gives a rat'ss @$$ about plastic parts. I think they've caught on to me. Overseas shipping is open. I didn't even mention that these were Star Wars related.... All I told here was I needed some tatcical armored gloves for a costume. But she knew! I wonder if someone had come to here before with a similar project. Still waiting to hear from the two others I contacted. I'll probably send out a reminder to them tomorrow. Acrylikhan
Here's another question for the gang: Do you want to keep the entire glove black, and paint the back half of the glove gauntlet camo olive and brown, or if the price is same, have the front of the glove standard black, and the back a dark brown leather and then paint just the olive scheme?
mrbungle
if the price is the same, i like the 2 color leather.

Billhag
Frank I'd love to be added to the list if possible, and I can provide a US address for both me and Nate if that makes things any easier Nate I've also had my problems with certain packages turning up, but I think that I've solved the problem with less of the greif (touch wood )
mrbungle
me and frank were talking about the gauntlet length. he said 5 1/2 inches from the wrist back. i measured my forearm and i thought that would be a good length.
