well, no love for the glove ,i see............... i was thinking about these , and set of long motorcycle gloves with sculpted rubber designs attached, a piece of foam and the material you make the jumpsuit out of. these gloves can be made from scratch.

just have to sculpt the rubberparts. then it should work.

There I a guy close to me that I'm talking with about this design. I'm not too positive about this, because the price could be high, even using medium range materials to keep it accessible.

Regardless.. I'm still making the greeblie. I am going to make a rubber urethane castings for the greeblie on the forearm.

Keep you fingers crossed... or if there is someone out there, please post here!

Well, here's my preliminary CAD file from the information I have. Right now, I think when we discussed this before, the length was about 1.75 inches wide by 5.75 long. However, I think it was inset into the glove. So I would still need to make a "lip" so that cloth adhesive (like GOOP, or something) could be applied to the part and then pressed into place. Still working on the proper height.

The urethane rubber I use is soft enough to sew in place, but that would be a lot of work for the glove maker.

75% of the CAD work is done. We would just need to finalize some of the minor details, Alter the CAD file to fit those new details, build a couple on the STL machine at work, pattern finish, and then mold.

I could have these in a mold with few castings within a five days. (barring a slot on the STL machine closes on me and I can't fit my parts on the build trays.)

Here was a pick from one of the original post I saved but I could not find it in the old threads...Guys, I can Check with my seamstress. She is Awesome. So I will see what she may think...it's worth a try!

That's great news! Keep me in the loop on this one!

Frank do you think you can make me a set of greeblies and I discussed this with her...I showed her the above pic and the first thing she stated was snowmobile gloves I did not even mention motorcycle gloves. So between our conversation she was on track. Hear is a pic on the bay. I know the fingers are too puffy....but I am looking at the wrist and how it flares out. If this is the best diagram we have in the above pic..she can probably scratch build this or use a glove base and go from their. What do you think?

Looks like a great place to start. Do you know how much those gloves in the picture cost? There was some police riot gear that had gloves that were close the screen glove... but I think they're sold out because the links dead.

I would like to get more feedback on the greeblie before I build it but the general shape is right. I would love to get a few of these to you so that way she's got something to work with. I'll send you a few different shores of urethane rubber. I'll send you a pair, or a few.

Maybe if we can wrap up discussion on the greeblie this week, I can get started the following week with the mold. Sound good?

Okay... Version 2. I've made the "lip" around the edge of the exposed surface so that it could be attached the fabric with an adhesive or sewn in place.

The lip is about a 1/4 inch all the way around, and the total height is about a 1/4th of an inch. I'm not sure if that's too high or too low with material thicknesses (the outer fabric/leather and any padding) that will be used. Good news is that all these measurements are full adjustable, and I can easily alter them.

So, the table is open for disscussion! Let's try to get a good critique, and then we can go from there. :)

The police riot glove link I saw last night reading through the old thread...I will post it once I get home...Is this the one that had the two hands on the top of the hand and thier was a pad on the thumb......Depending on the material I think it will be to tall but we may be able to add material or how small can the lip be.

I think we might have to agree on a glove first, then search the type of material we would use for the gauntlet part. Then I could alter the file accordingly. That's no problem though. I think the measurement from the top of the lip to the top of the greeblie was about 0.115." Just a hair under .125. I can easily shorten it by bringing up the lip, or make the gap height taller in case there's padding we have to figure. All in a days work... all to easy.

Maybe we should post pictures of all the gloves and give the prices for each. I'd like to go for something more accuarate, and have less work the leatherworker/seamstress would have to do for alteration. But I think everyone agrees, price is a little more of a concern in this economic pinch.

I sent a pm to Heatshock to he is checking on the riot glove, since the company is out of the UK. I am not sure what success he has had. I haven't found anything similar....Acrylikhan is in process of making the forearm greeblie mold. I think this is wear we are at!

Version 2 of the Glove Greeblie - I found some new info on the glove greeblie, so I re-did the file.

I noticed that there were eleven "ribs" on the thing instead of eight. The ends are not perfectly round, there sort of oblong.

What do you guys think?

Lonescout...PM headed your direction.

Yes, the part the shows through the glove is the same length and width.. with a 1/2-in lip around. The urethane should be easy to cut with a knive if you need to take the lip down a little.

I wish I had archive access!!! Just been looking at too many promotional released photoes. My eyes are actually crossed now.

To be frank though, this is one tough greeblie to nail down. Out of the five pictures, none of them are really the same - except for the weird oblong shape. Some of the ribs are flatter or wider. When I was told that ILM's digital staff wasn't all working with the same version of 3D programs for EpIII... I realized that could account for the differences.

I'm in the holding pattern for an open slot... just hoping that will come sooner than Friday!
