Billhag
woohoo good new Angelo looking good and defo count me in on a Kashyyyk nappy both you and Tom make me feel paranopid - I'm 5'9'' , 42 chest, 175lbs - I'm AVERAGE ok?! Or so I keep tellin my wife (but thats a whole different story) hey Bill, any1 else in UKG interested in the Kashyyyk trooper then? Or are u and I the only tool in the whole of blighty that got KS lids? Nate Nate I know that Tony Velda managed to win one of Mike's (pghfett) original sets of armour in an auction to help a fellow trooper out on here. But when I spoke to him back in November he hadn't started it yet.Other then him the only other person to show any interest , that I know of, is your good self mate. . But there's got to be more guys out there who love this brilliant costume.
Lonescout
Nate But there's got to be more guys out there who love this brilliant costume. I think once a costume comes together their may be interest....But then again the armor has to be made we know were we can find the Bdu's, Cummerbund, bucket, etc. I still have a problem with the glove's . I am going to a con in two weeks and I will wear the KS weather its complete or not. I want to see what type of interest would be in my Garrison. I think their are more who like the costume, but again it's all about making the armor and the Availability of the armor!
mrbungle
well on armor ,i am thinking of doing it all out of vacuum form except the helmet. vacform would be easier to reproduce, cut time and expense as aposed to the fiberglass stuff. that i think would make the armor more widely availible to anyone who wants it. all the clone and tk's are vacform. i am in the first stages of building a 36 by 36 vac form machine with the help of my father. Acrylikhan
Whoa!! Holy Nose to the Grindstone!! Let's get that cummerbund dyed and weathered up! This is coming together nicely!
Lonescout
Started on the chins....I think they came out nicely. Torment bondoed them as he is the seamless master. I wanted them seamless and I had to go wider/larger on the chin. So those who plan on buying the boots I recomend NO HIGHTOPS! Ankle size or lower. I might have had a better fit. On the other hand, the smaller the shin is made, the tighter they are to your leg which will look better but the harder they may be to get on unless the chin has a seam. We tried to fit them closer to my leg but there was no room to zip and tie the boot due to the high top. As far as the boot I don't think they are comfortable for a tactical boot. I will insert a sole to give the boot more cushion. I have never had an foot ware issues. Over all the boot is nice and I can cut/dremel the notch in the arch of the shoe. Eventually I will redo the chins w a ankle or lower show. This brand also makes the ankle/ low top version. So, are there 2 clips on the out side of each shoe? Are these clips! I have not seen any pics of a side view of the shoe. the inside has smaller brace/clips. Does anyone Know! Post a pic of a side view if one is found! Guest PointMan
That's really good. Is any particular way you painted them? Or were they random and all?
mrbungle
very nice, very nice. that is how i want to do mine. seamless abs. kind of hard to do.
Lonescout
That's really good. Is any particular way you painted them? Or were they random and all? All painting is just a random technique(if that's what you want to call it) I have created, but watched a lot of what pghfett did and created my own style. I hope to have the majority of this costume put together by Friday....the boot/toe cover is a pain and I may just do this in vinyl for now. I will wait for Mrbungle, Acrylikhan, etc for the Gloves As I have no luck and think it's best for a scratch build. The British Bdu's are very thin and I added snaps to the shirt w/ some extra cloth to make that area behind the snap durable and some snaps are still ripping right through the cloth. Velcro may be the way to go! On the black belt I may section of the black with grey strips of paint. The cummerbund is what it is....I am not sure why the last two stips did not dye as well as the others...all the brown areas are velcro. I added D-rings to the leather straps for the hip boxes. So I am burnt out on working since December day in and day out. I need a break! I will post the final pick after the weekend! I hope! Lonescout
Angelo Every time I look at this thred I have to go WOW!!! Sir, you are helping to take this fantastic costume to another level and I for one can not thank you enough for all the time , effort and skill that you have devoted to it WOW!! Thanks brother for your kind compliments! I am just trying to put some ideas out their....I think of it as Pghfett started it, most of the foundation was laid, and someone needed to go out on a limb and just do it! Then we can change and modify different parts later. I think once their is more armor out their the interest will pick up!. I need you aviator. LOL! I thank the others who have helped me mrbungle, Heatshock, Acrylikhan, etc.
Heatshock
wow nice cummubund man awww just saw post above - my pleasure dude yeah think once a complete costume is seen out there, intetest is sure to pick up with Mr B making lids and armour (yeesh man, u work fast!) available; soft parts coming together.... there will be quite a few Kashyyyk Troopers pounding swamp mud soon yeah post up or pm patterns for the cummubund pls Angelo - so billy and I can start hassling seamtresses out on this end. Lonescout
Ok! this is my Final pics until I have the whole costume on! Pants pockets...I am only 5'5 so I had to make these smaller... Codd piece needs to be redone wider at the top. I don't like it! The cloth is sewn over styrene which will keep its form and then velcroed to the cummerbund and inbetween the legs. The gray leather in-between the legs need to be shorter they are touching my knees...so these will need to be redone!
mrbungle
super nice. really like the pockets.
Lonescout
I will need to do some a tune up.... paint the belt, do something with my shoulder bells the were sliding all over the place, I will have to get two smaller pouches for my back as the tank length is long. Accurate Gloves, redo the Cob piece(wider), neck showing, Etc. Over all I received a lot of compliments on the paint job and costume...and my mini scout(my son) stole my thunder from what I hear! other pics of the con http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?showtopic=4889&hl=
mrbungle
looking good angelo. i would get rid of those shoulder straps and use a piece of foam and velcro to attach the shoulder bells. and boy don't those knee straps look good.
Lonescout
looking good angelo. i would get rid of those shoulder straps and use a piece of foam and velcro to attach the shoulder bells. and boy don't those knee straps look good. Tom, the knee straps work fine and he used snaps to secure them...yeah! I have to do something with the shoulder bells...I do have foam inside of the bell that way they don't swallow my shoulder! Back to the drawing board!
Lonescout
OK I am working on tuning my Kashyyyk...I gave in and added the Black dye to the pants and shirt. They look a lot better..The flash made them lighter but they are darker. The armor looks a lot better against this color than just the brown color. I filled the thigh pouches with foam and added velcro. Also, I made the gray ridding patches shorter as the first one was touching my knees. I just started another cummerbund today. The only diff is it will fit me better(wider). It will not have a gap between the armor and the cummerbund as the original one was not as wide. I will have the two back pouches. mrbungle
the bdu's do look better. the black dye is the ticket. your KST costume keeps getting better and better. keep up the good work angelo. now if we could just get your seamtress to get with the program. pm sent. Lonescout
Added the green tint to the helmet. Working on my gloves...I plan on adding Gray Vynal and painting the white band and the top greeble with weathering... The band is just a wrist band Like the (Lance Armstrong cancer band). I purchased these gloves except the one I have does not have a zipper it is replaced by a very thin pad!?
